Prepare for Lane Closures on Highway 1 at the Tunnels

One-way traffic controls will be in effect on Highway 1 both northbound and southbound through the new Tom Lantos Tunnels between Pacifica and Montara today.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be conducting additional striping work at the approaches to the new Tom Lantos Tunnels near the Devil’s Slide area on Highway 1 in San Mateo County Friday. The additional striping will improve safety for the driving public.

To ensure worker and public safety during the work, one-way traffic controls will be in effect on Highway 1 both northbound and southbound through the new Tom Lantos Tunnels in the Devil’s Slide area between Pacifica and Montara.

The work is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and be completed at 3 p.m.

During one-way traffic controls, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times with flaggers alternating northbound and southbound traffic through the tunnels.

All work is weather permitting.  Motorists should allow for extra travel time.
