San Mateo County residents can expect record-breaking temperatures Monday afternoon as the region experiences an unusual heat wave for November.
Here in Half Moon Bay, the temperature reached 81 degrees.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Half Moon Bay is 96 degrees, which occurred on May 16, 2008.
The all-time high temperature for Nov. 5 recorded in Half Moon Bay was 87 degrees in 1996.
The National Weather Service tracks the temperature at two locations in San Mateo County; at San Francisco International Airport and in Redwood City.
At those two locations, temperatures were anticipated to reach 84 in Redwood City and 81 at SFO, weather service forecaster Bob Benjamin said.
The all-time high temperature for Nov. 5 recorded in Redwood City was 81 degrees, recorded in 1997.
At SFO, the all-time high temperature for Nov. 5 was 78, recorded in 1993.
The weather was expected to cool down Tuesday and later in the week.
