Thursday Construction on San Mateo Bridge

Eastbound lane closures begin at 6 a.m. If possible, use an alternate route.

Construction will continue Thursday on the San Mateo Bridge as Caltrans works on its Seismic Retrofit Program.

At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times, but expect delays. An alternate route is advised.

Here are the scheduled closures:

On Thursday, one eastbound lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and two eastbound lanes will be shut down from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day. One westbound lane will be closed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and two westbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.

On Friday, one eastbound lane will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and two eastbound lanes will be closed from midnight until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Also on Friday, one westbound lane will be shut down from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and two westbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day.

The project is expected to continue with another schedule of construction and lane closures over the Labor Day Weekend, and again in October.
