What to Do In and Around Half Moon Bay This Weekend

It's near the end of the work week and you're about ready to do the weekend happy dance. What better time to look ahead and plan your weekend with fun and interesting activities.

1.      WINE AND BEER TASTING

Where/When: New Leaf Community Markets, 150 San Mateo Road, Half Moon Bay; Friday at 4 p.m.

Why go: Start your weekend off with a sample of beer or wine while enjoying live music. A different vendor is featured each week. Must be 21 or older to sample beer or wine. Website.

2.      ‘HAIR, THE MUSICAL’

Where/When: Coastal Repertory Theatre, 1167 Main St., Half Moon Bay; Friday opening night at 8 p.m. Continues Fridays through Sundays, through Aug. 10.

Why go: Take a musical look back at the American love-rock musical that made a cultural splash in the 1960s. 650-569-3266, Website.

3.      KAHUNA KUPUNA SURF CONTEST

Where/When: Linda Mar Beach, Pacifica; Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: See a variety of surf contests for surfers of all ages. The event honors the age and experience of surfers 40 and older.  650-438-6378, Website.

4.      TERRY DISLEY

Where/When: Miramar Beach Restaurant, 131 Mirada Road, Half Moon Bay; Saturday 5 to 9 p.m.

Why go: Bring the family and enjoy a “rocking-jazz piano” show by Disley as he performs selected jazz favorites along with works by Bach, Radiohead and Pink Floyd. 650-726-9053.

5.      PET ADOPTION FAIR

Where/When: Kibbles N Gifts, Strawberry Shopping Center, 80 Cabrillo Highway, North, Half Moon Bay; Sunday at 11 a.m.

Why go: Stop on by and meet adoptable kittens, cats, and dogs that are looking for new homes. All animals are healthy, spayed/neutered, current with vaccinations and microchipped.  650-726-3700, Website.
