Wind Advisory In Effect For Coastside Tuesday Night Until Wednesday Morning

Gusts of up to 50 mph predicted which will make driving difficult, as well as possibly bring down large trees and power lines.

Just before noon today, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a wind advisory for the coastal areas of the San Francisco Bay Area, including the San Mateo County Coastside. The advisory has been issued for 9 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) until 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The advisory states that while south winds are projected to be between 20 to 30 mph, winds of 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph are expected. Heavy rain is expected tonight as well. Both the winds and rain are part of a strong cold front that is moving across the area tonight, according to the NWS.

The advisory also cautioned that the strength of the winds could making driving difficult (especially high profile vehicles), bring down large trees (including weak limbs) -- and power lines as well.
