Coastal Rep presents Arthur Miller’s
Tony Award Winning All My Sons

The San Mateo Coast’s Award Winning Theatre Opens Play that Explores the
Effects of War and Capitalism on the American Family

June 2, 2014, Half
Moon Bay, CA…
Coastal Repertory Theatre announced today the opening of
Arthur Miller’s All My Sons.  Directed by Robert Pickett and featuring a
strong cast led by stage veterans John Baldwin and Pamela Ciochetti, All My
Sons is a moving and thoughtful American drama. First debuted in 1947, the play
won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, two Tony Awards,
made into films and recently revived on Broadway.

Inspired by the American Dream, World War II and the
true-life story of a woman who alerted authorities to her father's wartime
wrong-doing, All My Sons was Miller’s first commercial success. The play
focuses on the story of businessman Joe Keller, who narrowly avoids financial
ruin by shipping cracked machine parts to the military. He blames his business
partner and builds an empire, but eventually his crime comes back to haunt him,
and the play ends with an emotional twist that is electrifying in its
intensity.

“With the issues of war crimes and corporate malfeasance as
prevalent today as it was in 1947, Miller’s drama explores their effects on
individuals and families with emotional and psychological brilliance,” says
Michael Lederman, Artistic Director of Coastal Repertory Theatre.

Director Robert Pickett echoes Lederman’s sentiments, “All
My Sons explores the dark side of the American Dream and how it can ruin lives
as much as provide for them. This play was one of the reasons Miller was called
to appear before the House Un-American Activities Committee during the Red
Scare.

All My Sons first
appeared at the Coronet Theatre in New York City on January 29,1947 produced by
Broadway stalwarts Elia Kazan, Harold Clurman and Walter Fried. It was directed
by Elia Kazan and featured Ed Begley as Joe Keller.
