LACO and LACCO draw children from throughout the San Gabriel Valley
and Los Angeles County. All the youngsters study a string instrument
(violin, viola, cello or bass) at the South Pasadena Strings Program.
There are many San Marino families. This year marks the 11th
anniversary of the Strings Program. Over the years, the orchestras
have been featured on local and national television, and performed
twice at
Carnegie Hall in New York City. On their second visit, they set a
world record as the youngest orchestra ever to perform at that famous
venue. They will again perform at Carnegie Hall in 2013.
