WHERE ARE THE WOMEN IN STEM FIELDS? COME MEET SOME IN HALF MOON BAY ON OCTOBER 21


The Half Moon Bay chapter of AAUW invites you to attend a
panel discussion featuring three women who are excelling in STEM fields.  (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Math)



1.  Barbara Toole O’Neil is the principal of a sole proprietorship
focusing on energy, integrated environmental solutions, climate science, and
sustainability. Barbara has worked in non-profit research and development as
well as for the Environmental Protection Agency, and was recently appointed to
the Hearing Board of the Bay Area Air Quality  Management District.





2.  Lisa Lacasia is a senior information technology management consultant
currently working at Juniper Networks implementing SAP applications the company
will use to transform the way it manages its business. Lisa has worked in the
information technology field in Silicon Valley for over 20 years.


3.  Ellen Petrill is a Senior Program Manager at the Electric Power
Research Institute working in the area of energy utilization. Ellen has worked
for over 30 years in energy research and development in the areas ofcoal combustion, power plant performance, energy efficiency,
and regulatory relations.

Barbara, Lisa, and Ellen will each describe how they became interested in STEM
fields,their educational and career experiences, and the challenges and rewards of
working in fields traditionally dominated by men. They will offer advice to women who are
considering pursuing STEM educational or career goals and you will also have
the opportunity to ask them questions.
