High Surf Advisory Through This Afternoon

Waves could reach 17 feet.

A high surf advisory is currently in effect through Sunday afternoon along the Bay Area coast, according to the National Weather Service.

The high surf warning will be in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday along the San Francisco-Peninsula Coast and Monterey Bay area coastline, according to weather officials.

Swells are expected to increase this afternoon before subsiding Sunday afternoon. Breakers could reach up to 17 feet, officials said.

Weather officials advise there may be strong rip currents and sneaker waves. Local beaches face possible erosion as strong waves hit Bay Area shores.
