WATCH: Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay Christmas Tree Lights Countdown

Happy Holidays Half Moon Bay! It was a chilly but festive annual tree lighting celebration Sunday evening.

Locals and tourists alike turned out for the annual holiday tree lighting celebration at Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay Sunday evening.

The event started at 4:30 p.m. with up to 200 people attending.

It was an unusually chilly night for Half Moon Bay but the crowd was wrapped up warm in scarves and coats around fire pits with complimentary hot chocolate, cider and sugar cookies for a holiday celebration to ring in the 2013 Christmas season with the lighting of the 25-foot tree on the resort's Gazebo Lawn.

As well as the tree light switch on, a sunset bag piper followed by Christmas carols sung by the choir from Serra High School clad in tuxedos nonetheless were all part of the evening's festivities.

A much anticipated visit from Santa was later welcomed by a line-up of adorable "naughty and nice" children bundled up in ski hats, holiday attire and dress coats.

Winners of the Annual Gingerbread House Contest were also announced with many of the houses up for auction with proceeds benefitting Coastside Children's Programs.
