Holiday festivities in Half Moon Bay begin this weekend with 'Winter Wonderettes' and a wine tasting fundraiser just in time for Thanksgiving.

Coastal Rep's Winter Wonderettes, November 22 - December 21

Coastal Repertory Theatre launches its 2013-2014 “Season of Love” with Winter Wonderettes, Roger Bean’s off-Broadway holiday musical sequel to his hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes. The four-person show takes place six months after the ten-year reunion finale of The Marvelous Wonderettes. It’s winter 1968 and time for the annual Harper's Hardware company Christmas party. Model employee Betty Jean (Phaedra Johnson) takes charge of the festivities, bringing in her Wonderettes to entertain when Santa fails to arrive: Missy (Beth Guido), Cindy Lou (Courtney Hatcher) and Suzy (Kimberly Krol). The talented and zany Wonderettes will have you laughing and singing along as they catch up on their lives while waiting for Santa.  But when disaster strikes, they’ll use all their charm and talent to ultimately save the night. Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2pm. (No show on Friday, November 29).

2nd Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser, November 23


The 2nd Annual Wine Tasting Fall Fundraiser event at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church benefits Table of Plenty - A Weekly Supper for the Hungry at the church. With your wine tasting passport for $25 choose three samples from over 30 wines. Includes canapes, cheese, crackers, other tasty treats. Live music, silent auction and wine for sale for your Thanksgiving table.

Small Business Saturday on Main Street, November 30

Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. For the past three years, Half Moon Bay's Main Street merchants having been participating in the day that American Express designated in 2010 as Small Business Saturday. American Express card members get rewarded for shopping small on Small Business Saturday: a $25 credit when you spend $25 or more at a participating small business, using your registered American Express card. There are deals to be had on Main Street in Half Moon Bay for Small Business Saturday with sales, raffles and discounted items at some of the stores. 

Night of Lights, December 6, 6 - 9 p.m.

Stroll along Half Moon Bay’s charming Main Street for some old-fashioned holiday spirit filled with carols, roasted chestnuts and eggnog. A special tree lighting ceremony in Mac Dutra Park will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m., followed by hundreds of children adorned in twinkling lights marching down Main Street in the Parade of Lights at 7 p.m. Main Street. Also, the HMB Chamber and Boys and Girls Club made some improvements to the Children's Area at Kelly and Main streets with Disney princesses, Santa, snow, and jumpy slides.

It's the 2nd annual ugly holiday sweater party at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. Prizes for everyone who shows up, with a grand prize winner with The Funkiest Attire. Party in the bar with a local favorite, the band Califuegos will be in the house. From 5pm-7pm  there's a free tasting of their Frosty Wave Winter Ale-a delicious winter warmer with rich caramel and dark fruit flavors.

33rd Annual Winter Festival at Farallone View Elementary School, December 7

Join the fun at the 33rd Annual Winter Festival.  Gifts and crafts from local artisans, Cake Walk, Santa pics from 11AM-1PM, Gingerbread houses, raffles, and lots of other fun stuff.  

Christmas Tree Lighting at The Ritz-Carlton, December 8

The holiday season kicks off at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay on Sunday, December 8 with the lighting of a 25-foot fir tree on The Gazebo Lawn. Thousands of sparkling white lights welcome guests and local residents to the celebration to toast the season with hot chocolate, eggnog and apple cider. A twinkle will be in every child’s eye when Santa arrives with sweet treats for all.  Featured guest, Liam Mayclem, Host of CBS 5 Eye on the Bay and KCBS Foodie Chap, will also recognize and congratulate the winners of the Holiday Gingerbread House Competition.

Christmas Eve and the Many Moods of Christmas, December 13-14

Susan Hayward School of Dancing presents a holiday production, “Christmas Eve and the Many Moods of Christmas.” Performances will be held in the Dance School Auditorium at 496 6th Street in Montara. Doors will open 30 minutes before show time. Tickets are $15 adults and $12 seniors/ children under 16.

Coastside Chorale Winter Concert, December 14

The Coastside Chorale will be giving its Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church at 900 Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay. The program includes both Traditional and Contemporary music. The Chorale will be joined by a brass group and percussion. Refreshments will be available at intermission and the Winter Concert Raffle will be drawn at this time.

Winter Concert at Harbor Village, December 14

Come hear all your holiday favorites played by this fine string ensemble composed of members of the Coastside Community Orchestra and string students of Claudine Schwartz Minton’s Make Music studio, starting at 2 p.m. in the Harbor Village mall atrium.

Shely Pack Dancers Perform “The Nutcracker”, December 14

The year the audience will be introduced to some new Nutcracker characters: Papa Teddy and the Baby Teddies, who are one of the surprises brought to the party by Auntie M., a new character played by Jessica Martinez who is in fierce competition for Clara’s affections with Uncle Drosselmeyer, who will be played by Jeff Warren, father of Junior Company member Panna Warren. At Skyline College at 7:30 p.m. $25 in advance; $30 at the door.
 
Boat Decorating Contest at Pillar Point Harbor, December 14

Get into the holiday spirit by heading over to Pillar Point Harbor to stroll along the boats festively adorned with holiday lights and other trimmings throughout the month of December. The Annual Boat Decorating Contest will be held on Saturday, December 14, where the best-decorated boat will be chosen. Princeton Seafood Company will be serving complimentary hot apple cider and handing out stuffed animals donated by the community, while encouraging others to join together for cheerful caroling. 

 
Harley Farms Christmas Faire, December 14-15

The Christmas Faire at Harley Farms is the ideal place to pick up holiday gifts from local artisans while enjoying complimentary hot mulled cider and homemade cookies. Shoppers will find treasures including hand carved ornaments, pottery, photography, embroidery, jams chutney and of course, cheese! Harley Farms will be offering chic parcels of award-winning cheeses and popular goat milk bath and body treats presented in elegant and rustic packages, individually labeled for gift giving needs. 205 North Street, Pescadero.

Hot Chocolate and Story Time with Santa, December 15

Join Santa's Tree Farm and Village in Half Moon Bay in the Elves Workshop for Hot Chocolate and Story Time with Santa from 9 to 10 am. Stories include educational books about Christmas Trees as well as holiday classics. Mostly for children ages 3 to 7, however all ages are welcome. $6.99 per child, and their supervising parent is free. Tickets can be purchased at our website: www.santastreefarm.com or at the farm. Limited to 15 children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.   

Breakfast With Santa, December 15

Presented in partnership with Half Moon Bay Recreation Services and Sheriff’s Office Community Policing Unit, Coastside kids are invited to have "Breakfast With Santa" at the Ted Adcock Community Center, 535 Kelly Ave. in Half Moon Bay. Bring a toy to donate for the Sheriff’s Office Toy Drive. All donated toys will go to under-privilege children on the Coast. Tickets for Breakfast With Santa may be purchased in advance at the Ted Adcock Community Center from Nov. 27 to Dec. 12 or online at www.recconnect.net. $5 person or $15 per family up to 6 members.

Breakfast With Santa at The Ritz, December 22

Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for Breakfast with Santa in The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom on Sunday, December 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Guests young and old will enjoy a traditional breakfast buffet and decorating their own pancakes with an assortment of fresh fruit, a selection of flavored syrups, nuts and other topping, and, of course, fluffy whipped cream. Younger guests will delight in the sweetness of creating their own party favor from the Christmas candy table. While Mrs. Claus entertains guests with her favorite stories, children can secretly whisper their Christmas wish to in Santa’s ear. Breakfast with Santa is $54 per person.
