Turkey Donations Needed in Half Moon Bay This Week

Last weekend, local Boy Scouts and Coastsiders brought in more than 4,390 pounds of much-needed food for the emergency pantry at Coastside Hope, a community-based organization in El Granada dedicated to providing emergency food, clothing, shelter, and other safety net services for Coastsiders in need.

The effort was part of the "Scouting for Food" collection drive, a community-service project that benefits clients of local food banks and charities like Coastside Hope.

But food banks around the Bay Area, including Coastside Hope, are asking for more donations as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.

"We had some drop-offs at the office yesterday that didn’t make it in time for the weekend drive," said Keith Terry, community development director for Coastside Hope. "Those would have pushed the number above 4,500 pounds!"
