I've heard that the music of Philip Glass is an acquired taste. If so it's something I've acquired a long time ago and continue to savor. One afternoon I was sitting in my car at Princeton Harbor listening to SOLO PIANO/PHILIP GLASS http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1771339~S1. Just in time for WICHITA VORTEX SUTRA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSjWNMUGbP0 one of our rare thunderstorms blew through. There's drama!
Glass is versatile. He writes symphonies, of which HEROES SYMPHONY http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1456668~S1 is my favorite. He has written several operas. There is an excellent video of his opera KEPLER http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1990822~S1 a dramatization of the life of the astronomer Johannes Kepler. Another opera LE BELLE ET AL BETE http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1275282~S1 was inspired by the Jean Cocteau film. If you visit the Philip Glass website http://www.philipglass.com/ you can stay up to date on his projects and also his appearances.
