Holiday Picture Books

Suggestions for holiday reading.

One of the cooler things about working at the library is that when we get a shipment of holiday picture books I get to check out any new ones and also revisit some of my old favorites.  Those of you who've been reading my blogs for some time may have already come to the conclusion that my tastes are somewhat on the strange side.  Why should it be different with holiday picture books?

The first book on my pile is an old classic delightfully re-illustrated.  I'm referring to the NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1717430~S1. It's not a new book but it's new to me.

Ive always been a big William Joyce fan and I particularly like SANTA CALLS http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1070432~S1 .

I thought I had read all of Patricia Polacco's books but somehow I missed WELCOME COMFORT http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1122621~S1 .

ARTHUR YORINKS THE FLYING LATKE http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b1166463~S1 has long been a favorite of mine. This book gets no respect.  A lot of places don't even shelve it with holiday books.  Look for it.

Finally, don't forget to load a good holiday book on your eReader.  Might I suggest HERSHEL AND THE HANUKKAH GOBLINS http://catalog.plsinfo.org/record=b2046928~S1  ?

Enjoy the holidays!  There's plenty of good reading out there.
