Feds Looking for Areas to Restore Bison Herds:  In a somewhat controversial effort to restore America’s once-great bison herds, Federal officials are considering sending them to 20 parcels of public lands in 10 western states.  That’s one option, but it seems like a more obvious choice would be to send them back home to Buffalo.

Study Finds Chimpanzees Prefer Indian and West African Music:  A new study that tested the musical tastes of humans' closest primate relative the Chimpanzees found that the chimps shun the steadily strong beats common in Western genres, preferring Indian ragas and Akan tunes from West Africa.  Who could have known?  I would have guessed their favorite music would be any song by “The Monkees.”

Small Town of Swett, South Dakota is Up for Sale:  The small town of Swett, South Dakota, which consists of a bar, workshop, three trailers, and a single house, is up for sale for a mere $400,000.  And for those wondering just what would I do with such a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, all I can say is “don’t Swett the small stuff.”  Of course about the only place you could find work in a town like that would be in a “Swett shop.”

Sperm Bank Donations Down in the UK:  Its being reported that after a court ruling a few years which took away sperm donor anonymity, UK sperm banks are being forced to import sperm from Germany, the US and Denmark.  Guess this kind of puts phrases like “I’ll have the Danish” in quite a different light.

Camel’s Milk Hits US Market:  The LA Times reports that camel’s milk has hit the US market for the first time and while it has a similar taste to cow’s milk, it has 50% less fat and 40 fewer calories.  Another advantage is that once you drink a glass of camel’s milk, it won’t be necessary to drink another for at least 3 months.

Doctors Without Borders Celebrates 43rd Year:  The humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders celebrates its 43rd birthday this year with a big fund-raiser.  Sadly, less reputable organizations such as “Nurses With Loose Morals” continue to out-raise them by 5 to 1.

Typing Almost Completely Replacing Handwriting:  According to a new research, the average adult has not written anything by hand in more than five weeks.  Call me old fashioned, but I still enjoy writing bad checks.

Detroit Population Declines 25%:  New census data shows that the population of Detroit has fallen by a shocking 25% in the last decade.  The city council warns that if the trend continues, they may be forced to change the city’s nickname from “Motown” to “Lesstown.”
