If you visited Pescadero lately, you may have noticed the Community Center floating 4 feet off the ground. It has been that way since November of last year when restoration work began.
If you ever worked on your own home, you know that there is always more work then orginially meets the eye. This job is no exception. For example, the workers knew there was a concrete foundation that supported the original steeple of this one-time church that needed to be removed. Well, it extended further and was buried deeper than anyone knew.
"All work, so far, has been done with local donations and done with local labor, as much as possible," said Gregory Timm. Timm oversees the project.

But both the hall the the restoration has remained suspended since the new year. A HUD grant has been submitted and approved. When that first check arrives, the hall will be lowered onto its new foundation.
"This is only the beginning of the work needed to be done to save the hall for future generations," Timm said. "Fundraising will be continuing throughout the coming year(s) in order to raise moneys for the structural repairs, including a new roof."
