Mountain Lion Sightings Reported Hours Apart

Sightings near Highway 92 and in Woodside took place on Monday night.

In a matter of hours, two mountain lions were spotted in different parts of San Mateo County Monday night, county emergency officials said.

The first sighting was around 7 p.m. near state Highway 92 just east of state Highway 35, according to emergency officials.

About four hours later and less than 15 miles away around 11:15 p.m., a big cat was seen just east of Lindenbrook Road in Woodside.

Residents are advised to never approach a mountain lion.

Anyone who encounters a mountain lion should face the animal, make noise, and try to appear larger by waving arms and throwing rocks, emergency officials said. Small children should be picked up.
