WWII Hero to be Parade Grand Marshal
Ray Martini was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, nine Air Medals, and the World War II Medal with four battle stars.
Army Air Corp Capt. Ray Martini viewed D-Day from the vantage point of his P-47 cockpit, flying two missions over the battle that turned the tide of the war. In all, Martini flew 50 missions during World War II, earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses, nine Air Medals, and the World War II Medal with four battle stars.
He has a new title: Grand Marshal of Half Moon Bay's Ol' Fashioned 4th of July Parade down historic Main Street.
"Ray Martini is a true American hero," said Cameron Palmer, Co-Chairman of the Parade Committee. "We are honored and delighted that he will serve as grand marshal this year."
