Add your answer to this in the comments section.

Whether it's an old slogan, a no-longer-there hobby shop or a park that's now residential homes, there's always something that will remind you of your hometown if and when you leave.

There's even an entire Facebook Group dedicated to sharing the nostalgia of Half Moon Bay.

We asked our Facebook readers to answer this question:

"You know you're from Half Moon Bay when ..."

Here are a few of the replies we received:

  • Adrienne: ...you welcome summer's fog while others are wilting in their hometown's heat.
  • Sean: You drive home from San Mateo via 35 and Sharp Park road because it's faster.
  • Karen: ...you dodge both horse and goat poop when walking to town.
  • Anne: ..."going whale watching" means looking out the window.
  • Mariellen: You take out your winter coat to wear from June through September
  • Angela: ...you declare with a straight face to your out of town visitors that the fog usually breaks up every 10 days or so...then are perplexed at their reaction of shock and horror
  • Chris: You start cutting firewood in winter for summer
  • Eilene: All of the above...hahaha
  • Barbra: You miss driving Devil's Slide
  • Errolyn: The sound of the fog horn is a lullaby.
  • Julie: You fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.
  • Julie: Ahhh, I moss it so. I used to work at Pasta Moon. HMB is my all time favorite place to live.
  • Julie: *miss
  • Gail: Perhaps you were talking about Moss Beach, Julie?
  • Gail: ...you wear shorts so rarely that you can't figure out where you put them.
  • Leslie: This best weather is in the fall/winter and coldest foggiest is in the summer!
  • Sonia: Everyone knows everyone and you feel like a celebrity haha
So tell us, HMB, you know you're from Half Moon Bay when ...?
