Support Second Harvest at New Leaf in November!

New Leaf will donate 1 pound of Smart Chicken® to Second Harvest Food Bank for every 10 pounds purchased at New Leaf during November.

Here’s an easy and smart way to help provide nutritious food for people in need this holiday season: participate in New Leaf Community Markets' Smart Giving Program. Throughout the month of November, for every 10 pounds of Smart Chicken® purchased at New Leaf, New Leaf and Smart Chicken’s producer will donate one pound of nutritious poultry to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

This will be the first year that New Leaf’s Half Moon Bay store is participating in the Smart Giving program. Sarah Owens, New Leaf’s marketing director said that based on the success of this program at New Leaf stores in Santa Cruz County, they expect to make a sizeable donation of nutritious, air-chilled Smart Chicken to the food bank. Since 2006, New Leaf has donated 10 tons of poultry to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County.

Kathy Jackson, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is very pleased that New Leaf is partnering with them to provide fresh, high-quality poultry. Poultry is a great source of protein and will help the food bank in its effort to provide nutritious food to the nearly 250,000 people Second Harvest serves each month.
