Bicyclist Killed on Skyline Was Former Amazon CFO Joy Covey

Fremont driver, 22, turned in front of victim, who collided with his minivan.

The woman bicyclist hit and killed by a minivan on Skyline Wednesday was former Amazon CFO Joy Covey, according to a report on PandoDaily, a Silicon Valley blog.

According to her Facebook page, Covey, 50, studied at Harvard and Stanford and worked at Amazon from 1996 to 2000.

According to the CHP, Covey was riding downhill on state Highway 35
near Elk Tree Road when she was struck by a 22-year-old Fremont man driving uphill.

The driver made a left turn onto Elk Tree Road directly in front of Covey, who crashed into the right side of the van, the CHP said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
