Blotter: Cops Crackdown on Crab Poachers Again, Brothers Brawl in Montara, Local Teen Entered Into the Missing Person's System

Here's what went down in and around Half Moon Bay last weekend.

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Aug. 30

2:59 a.m. - 400 Block of Central Ave., Half Moon Bay - Public Intoxication - Deputies made contact with a 26 year old male from Pacifica who was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was transported to First Chance to be released when sober.

2:07 p. m. - Cabrillo Hwy / Tunitas Creek Pescadero - DUI Turnover - Deputies made contact with a subject who appeared to be under the influence. CHP was requested to complete the sobriety tests and subject was taken into custody.

2:42 p.m. - Kelly Ave / Potter Ave., Half Moon Bay - Driving without a license - During a routine traffic stop, deputies made contact with a subject that was driving without a license. The subject was cited and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

8:09 p.m. - Ave Alhambra / Ferdinand Ave El Granada - DUI Turnover - Deputies made contact with a 47 year old male from El Granada who appeared to be under the influence. CHP was requested to complete the sobriety tests and subject was taken into custody. 

Saturday, Aug. 31

2:16 a.m. – Highway 1/Stage Road, Pescadero - Taking/Poss. of Dungeness Crab out of season - Deputies made contact with three subjects who found to be taking Dungeness crab out of season. All parties were cited and released.

2:18 a.m. – Highway 1/ Tunitas Creek Rd., Pescadero - Taking/Poss. of Dungeness Crab out of season - Deputies made contact with four subjects who were found to be taking Dungeness crab out of season. One the subjects were also driving without a license. All parties were cited and released

1 p.m. - 400 Block of Pine Ave., Half Moon Bay - Missing Juvenile – Deputies responded to a report of a missing juvenile. The reporting party stated that the missing juvenile was at school, left to use the restroom and never returned. He also didn’t return home that night and had not been answering his cell phone. The reporting party stated he does not know many of his son’s friends and doesn’t know who to contact. The missing juvenile was entered into the Missing Person’s system.

8:25 p.m. - 00 Block of California Ave., Princeton - Possession Controlled Substance-Felony/Commit felony while on bail / Under Influence Controlled Substance - Deputies made contact with four subjects in their mid 20s from the Coastside who were found to be under the influence of controlled subject and in possession. One of the subjects was recently release on bail from another county. All four were booked into county jail without incident.

10:41 p.m. - Surfers Beach, El Granada - Driving without a license - During a routine traffic stop, deputies made contact with a subject that was driving without a license. The subject was cited and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Sunday, Sept. 1

1:40 a.m. - Block of Johnson Pier Princeton  - Public Intoxication / Release when sober - Deputies made contact with a 32 year old man from Half Moon Bay who was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was transported to the San Mateo County Jail without incident.

1:51 a.m. - 300 Block of Capistrano Rd., Princeton - Battery on Police officer/Emergency Person/non-injury/ Resist or Obstruct Officer / Public Intoxication - Deputies responded to a dispute between two brothers in their early 20s from Montara. While deputies were trying to break up the argument, one of the subjects pushed a deputy and refused to comply. Both subjects were arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.

2:15 p.m. – Highway 1 at Poplar, Half Moon Bay - Driving on suspended license: special circumstances - During a routine traffic stop, deputies made contact with an 18 year old male from Half Moon Bay that was driving on a suspended license. Subject was cited and released.

3 p.m. - 400 Block of Kehoe, Half Moon Bay - Petty Theft - Deputies responded to a report of petty theft. The victim reported that someone took property she had just left outside her home. She went into the house for a moment and heard a car door slam. When she went outside she saw the suspect vehicle flee from her driveway. She did not see the suspects. She did not give anyone permission to take her property. No leads at this time.

4:01 p.m. - Block of Stone Pine Rd., Half Moon Bay - Felony – Violation of Probation – Deputies responded to numerous calls regarding a 63 year old man from Half Moon Bay entering various businesses and disturbing the owners. When the subject was finally contacted it was found he was on probation. The subject was subsequently arrested on a probation violation and taken to county jail.

7 p.m. - 500 Block of Kelly Ave., Half Moon Bay - DUI Alcohol/Drugs - Deputies came in contact with a 55 year old man from Half Moon Bay during a traffic stop. He fit the criteria for DUI and was place under arrest. He was taken to First Chance.

8:08 p.m. - 300 Block of Redondo Beach Rd., Half Moon Bay - Possession of marijuana under 28.5 grams - Deputies came in contact with a 21 year old subject who had marijuana in his possession. Subject was cited and released.

11:14 p.m.  - Ave Alhambra / Palma St El Granada - Under Influence Control Substance - Deputies came in contact with a 53 year old man from Half Moon Bay who was under the influence of a controlled substance. Subject was taken to First Chance, where he was cited.

Monday, Sept 2

12:58 a.m. - Cabrillo Hwy / Tunitas Creek Rd., Pescadero  - Taking/Poss. of Dungeness Crab out of season - Deputies made contact with four subjects who found to be taking Dungeness crab out of season. All parties were cited and released.
