BLOTTER: Disappearing Diamonds, Brick Through A Window

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Police log for Half Moon Bay and the unincorporated San Mateo County Coastside from Aug. 12-19.

Note: The Sheriff's Office does not list all incidents due to investigative restrictions and victims' privacy rights.

Aug. 12

9:00 am, 500 block of Seymour Street: Vandalism. A window of a building was reported broken, but it was determined no entry was made.

7:40 pm, 600 block of Terrace: Incident. A parent contacted officers regarding a combative juvenile.

Aug. 13

10:58 am, Miramontes Point Road: Vandalism. Someone threw a brick through the front door and side window of the Moonridge substation of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

10:59 am, 400 block of Sonora Avenue, El Granada: Vandalism. A house sitter called to report the smashing of a vehicle's rear window.

12:35 pm, Cabrillo Highway and Tunitas Creek Road: Auto burglary. A purse was taken from a locked vehicle.

Aug. 14

Approximately 5 p.m., First Avenue and Grove Street: Gang-related shooting of two individuals. One was shot in the foot and another in the chest. The individual who was shot in the chest went to Seton Medical Center Coastside and Stanford Hospital for treatment. Both survived. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, but the Sheriff's Office reported that they did arrest a juvenile who threatened a neighborhood resident. Aug. 15

11:30 am, 2000 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Burglary. Specialty plants were stolen from a greenhouse.

3:00 pm, 600 block of Main: Grand theft. An elderly woman put an almost $9,000 diamond necklace in her safety deposit box in 2006 and now it is missing.

Aug. 16

7:23 am, 100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Vandalism. Someone smashed the window of a vehicle that was parked overnight.

7:04 pm, Cypress and Pilarcitos: Threats. A man threatened to beat up a woman's sons and was then arrested.
