BLOTTER: Money Wiring Scam, Drunken Physical Altercation

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Police log for Half Moon Bay and the unincorporated San Mateo County Coast from Oct. 15 - 22.

Oct. 15

Time Unknown, 300 block of Columbus Street, El Granada: Public intoxication. Officers checked out a man sleeping in front of the listed address.

12:44 pm, 19000 block of Cabrillo Highway, San Gregorio: Grand theft. A man was told his son was incarcerated and wired $6500 to what he was told was the U.S. Embassy, later finding out his grandson was not incarcerated and that he had been scammed.

8:40 pm, Capistrano Road and Prospect Avenue, Princeton: Incident report. Officers went to check out a man down, and found he had suffered a cut above his eye after he started a fight with someone else.

9:59 am, Unknown Location: Stolen vehicle. A vehicle containing $11,000 and credit cards was stolen from the owner's residence.

Oct. 17

8:15 am, 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Public intoxication. A drunken man was refusing to leave a business and was taken to county jail.

8:34 am, South Cabrillo and Poplar: Public intoxication. Officers saw a stumbling man and found him to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was taken to county jail.

1:22 pm, 600 block of Purissima: Vandalism. The passenger side of a vehicle was scratched. 

1:41 pm, 700 block of Main Street: Vandalism. Some people kicked the locks on the doors to a building's restroom.

Oct. 18

12:08 am, Route 1 and Main Street: Public intoxication. While one person was arrested for being drunk in public, another was taken to county jail for having an open alcohol container in their vehicle.

3:59 pm, 100 block of Main Street: Battery, vandalism. An assault and vandalism occurred at this location.

5:18 pm, 0-100 block of Cypress Way: Violation of restraining order. A woman reported someone in her residence who was violating a restraining order.

Time unknown, 100 block of Route 92: Public intoxication. Officers checked out a report of a trespasser who was too intoxicated to care for himself, and was taken to county jail.

Oct. 19

2:11 am, Casa Del Mar and Marie Court: DUI. Officers stopped a speeding vehicle and found the driver to be drunk. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

12:36 pm, 100 block of San Mateo Road: Felony warrant. A man and woman who were verbally fighting were wanted on felony warrants out of Indiana. They were arrested and taken to county jail.

Oct. 20

8:45 am, 1500 block of Mizzen: Lost property. Property was reported lost.

8:00 pm, 4000 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Battery. At a party two people who were drunk got into a physical altercation.
