Man Caught Carrying a Switchblade, Off-Leash Dog Owner Arrested for Resisting a Peace Officer

Here's what went down in and around Half Moon Bay last weekend.

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Sept. 13

7 a.m. - 400 block of Valdez, Half Moon Bay - Residential burglary - Deputy took report of residential burglary, when unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence and took tools and paint valued at approximately $1,900.

9:10 a.m. - 6th at Farallone, Montara - Petty theft - Deputy took report of the theft of a water pump from a work site. The loss was estimated at $700.

2:30 p.m. - 16000 block of Skyline, Woodside - Grand theft - Deputy took report of the theft of approximately twelve feet of electric blue luminescent wiring from a commercial building. The loss was estimated at $4,000.

4:32 p.m. - 0-100 block of N. Cabrillo, Half Moon Bay - Misdemeanor warrant - Deputies made contact with 21 year old male from Half Moon Bay wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of San Mateo County. He was arrested and transported to San Mateo County Jail.

3 p.m. - Highway 35 south of Highway 92, Unincorporated - Vehicle burglary - Deputy dispatched to report of theft from vehicle, when unknown suspect(s) smashed a window and took numerous items. The loss was estimated at approximately $1,030.

9 p.m. - Montara State Beach, Montara - Drive with suspended license - 26 year old driver cited for driving with a suspended license.

11:08 p.m. - N. Cabrillo at San Mateo Road, Half Moon Bay - Public intoxication - Deputy dispatched to report of female that had been yelling. Deputies made contact with a 50 year old female transient who was determined to be too intoxicated to care for herself. She was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

11:33 p.m. - 400 block of Grove, Half Moon Bay - Misdemeanor warrant - Deputy dispatched to report of subject sleeping in vehicle, and made contact with the 34 year old man from Half Moon Bay. The subject was found to be wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of Sunnyvale, and was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

11:45 p.m. - 0-100 block of Miramontes Pt Rd., Half Moon Bay - Petty theft - Deputy took report of the theft of an iPhone, valued at approximately $700.

11:57 p.m. - 300 block of Capistrano Rd., Princeton - Possession of switchblade - Deputy on routine patrol observed subjects loitering to the rear of a business. The Deputy made contact with the group and observed one subject, a 26 year old from South San Francisco with a folding knife clipped in his front pocket in plain view. The man stated he did not know it was illegal to carry the switchblade knife. He was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

Saturday, Sept. 14

12:43 a.m. - 100 block of San Mateo Rd, Half Moon Bay - Public intoxication - Deputy dispatched to report of intoxicated subjects fighting. The Deputy made contact with the subjects and determined one to be the primary aggressor. The man was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

12:09 p.m. - 300 block of Central, Half Moon Bay - Property for destruction - Citizen turned in two BB guns for destruction.

Sunday, Sept. 15

1:36 a.m. - 14th @ Cabrillo Hwy Montara - DUI - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle cross over double yellow lines into oncoming lane several times. The Deputy performed a traffic stop and found the 41 year old driver from San Francisco appeared to be intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to San Mateo County Jail.

Montara State Beach, Montara - Resisting a peace officer - State Parks and sheriff's deputies arrested a man for resisting a peace officer after becoming argumentative when cited for having his dogs off leash on the beach.

9:31 p.m. - Main at Stone Pine Rd., Half Moon Bay - Forge/Alter vehicle registration/Drive without a license - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle with its high beams illuminated within 500 feet of oncoming traffic, and performed traffic stop. The 23 year old driver was found to be unlicensed, and a registration check of the vehicle showed the registration had expired, yet the vehicle had a 2014 tab. The driver admitted to using the false tab to avoid being pulled over by law enforcement. He was arrested and transported to San Mateo County Jail.
