BLOTTER: Son Left Behind During Drunken Boat Tow

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Police log for Half Moon Bay and the unincorporated San Mateo County Coastside from July 20-27.

July 20

12:30 am, 500 block of Kelly: Drunk in public, receiving stolen property. An intoxicated man in possession of someone else's credit card was found sleeping on a sidewalk.

2:14 am, 8800 block of La Honda Road, La Honda: Public intoxication. A man was found in front of a bar too intoxicated to care for himself and was taken to county jail.

7:52 am, 300 block of Grand Boulevard: Stolen vehicle. A white Ford van was stolen while parked overnight at the victim's residence.

6:20 pm, 8100 block of Cabrillo Highway: Auto burglary. Someone smashed the rear window of a vehicle and took the vehicle owner's briefcase.

8:59 pm, 400 block of Vermont, Moss Beach: Residential burglary. The screen on the bathroom window of a residence was found to be tampered with.

July 21

12:25 am, Pilarcitos Avenue and Willow Avenue: Vandalism. Unknown suspects used aerosol paint to vandalize a fence with gang-related graffiti.

8:06 am, 600 block of Terrace: Vehicle tow. A vehicle was towed due to having an expired registration.

8:29 am, North Cabrillo Highway and Poplar: Driving with a suspended license. A driver was cited for operating a vehicle with an expired license.

10:20 am, 300 block of Bridgeport, El Granada: Warrant arrest. Officers a woman to county jail who had a warrant out for her arrest.

11:27 am, 9800 block of Cabrillo Highway, El Granada: Vehicle towed. A vehicle was stopped and the driver admitted to driving with an expired registration and license. The vehicle was towed.

11:34 pm, 300 block of Main: Drunk in public. An intoxicated man was reported inside a business and then arrested and taken to county jail.

July 22

2:15 am, Pescadero Creek Road, Pescadero: Warrant arrest, vandalism. Officers checked out a vehicle parked at a closed beach parking lot, and determined the driver to have no bail warrant for his arrest. He was taken to county jail.

9:14 am, 100 block of Corona Street, Moss Beach: Warrant arrest. Officers contacted a man and confirmed him to have a $15,000 warrant out for his arrest and he was taken to county jail.

10:30 am, Route 1 and Terrace: DUI. A possible drunk driver was stopped by officers. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was transported to First Chance.

11:15 pm, North Cabrillo and Grande Boulevard: DUI. Officers stopped a vehicle because of a lighting violation and found the driver to be intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

July 23

12:10 am, 100 block of Poplar: Recovered stolen vehicle. An officer reported seeing a vehicle that was reported stolen. 

12:42 am, South Cabrillo Highway at Redondo Beach Road: Misdemeanor warrant. Officers stopped a vehicle because of a lighting violation, and found the passenger to be wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

2:49 am, 300 block of West Point Avenue, Princeton: DUI. While assisting in traffic control a driver towing a damaged fishing boat, they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the driver. They arrested him and took him to county jail. It was later discovered that the driver had left his 12-year-old son alone in a local hotel room. The mother of the son was called to pick him up.

3:56 am, North Cabrillo Highway and Ruisseau Francais: Possession/under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers contacted a man who was in possession of cocaine, and admitted to using the drug. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

1:30 pm, Redondo Beach: Stolen vehicle. A man parked his vehicle at the beach and when he returned it was gone.

2:15 pm, 0-100 block of Valencia: Vandalism. Eggs and fruit were thrown at a residence.

4:00 pm, 400 block of Alameda Avenue, El Granada: Vandalism. Some people spray painted a vehicle with gray primer on the rear, sides, top and front of the vehicle.

5:42 pm, South Cabrillo Highway and Miramontes Point Road: DUI. A car driving recklessly was stopped and the driver was found to be intoxicated. 

6:30 pm, 100 block of Avenue Alhambra, El Granada: Theft. A man stole a wallet from underneath the cash register counter of Easy Food and Liquor in El Granada.

July 24

5:01 pm, 500 block of Main: Grand theft. A bronze statue valued at $3,800 was taken from an art gallery.

July 25

12:01 am, 0-100 block of Amesport Landing: Battery. A man claimed a woman whom he was in dispute with pushed him and took his laptop. The woman requested a civil standby while she searched for her own laptop which she could not find.

10:11 am, Pigeon Point Road: Auto burglary. About $500 worth of items were stolen from a vehicle.

11:11 am, 500 block of Main: Public intoxication. A man was found on a park bench and too intoxicated to care for himself. He was transported to county jail and then released.

2:30 pm, Route 1 and Spindrift: Public intoxication. A man was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was taken to county jail, then released.

July 26

12:01 am, 400 block of Metzgar: Vandalism. Gang-related graffiti was painted on a tree trunk.

1:40 am, 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Public intoxication. An angry female who was yelling at customers in a grocery store was determined to be too intoxicated to care for herself and was arrested.

2:49 pm, Route 1 and Venice: Missing persons. Two juveniles who had left their homes two days ago wanted to return and their guardians took custody.

8:47 pm, Main and Stone Pine Road: Probation hold. Two probationers were contacted by an officer, and placed one of them on probation hold and taken to the youth services center.
