UPDATE: Pacifica Man Identified as Stab Victim in San Mateo

Murder investigation underway after unidentified person's body was discovered this afternoon near All American Self Storage.

Update 6/8, 3:00 p.m.: The San Mateo Coroner's Office has identified the body as that of Justin Lockwood, a 33-year-old man from Pacifica. An autopsy to determine exact cause of death will be undertaken tomorrow.

A person was found stabbed to death in the area of on E. Third Avenue in San Mateo on Tuesday, police said.

Officers say they responded to the storage facility at about 1:30 p.m. and found the body. The victim has not been identified.

The San Mateo Police Department is treating the case as a homicide. In a statement, San Mateo police said that "Detectives have determined that this crime appears to be an isolated incident and that this does not appear to be a random act."

San Mateo police spokesman Sgt. Dave Norris told Patch that the victim is a middle-aged man who suffered at least one stab wound. He said police have talked to a number of people at the scene.

All American Self Storage is located at 2000 E. Third Ave. (also known as J. Hart Clinton Drive) near Detroit Avenue. Police have cordoned off the area and are asking people to steer clear of the area while the homicide investigation is underway.

This is the San Mateo's first homicide of the year.
