Car Fire Reported Near Half Moon Bay Airport

The blaze was reported just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters were working to extract a person from a burning vehicle from which flames may have spread to a nearby building early Saturday morning near the Half Moon Bay Airport, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The San Mateo County Fire Department said the initial report of the fire at Vassar and Airport streets, near the Half Moon Bay Airport, in the unincorporated town of Princeton-by-the-Sea came in at 1:53 a.m.

CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said according to initial reports, a Cadillac caught fire, and crews were trying to extract a person from the burning vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, CHP received reports of a building also catching fire.
