Deputies Search for Missing Boater

The sheriff's office found the boat in Tampa Bay but the man who took out the boat is still missing.

The Manatee County Sheriff's office is searching for a missing man after he never returned from a boat trip on Sunday.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff's report:

Deputies are searching for Patrick Mullins after the Coast Guard found his empty boat in the water near the mouth of Tampa Bay close to Egmont Key.  The search began Sunday night after Mullins' wife Jill Mullins arrived home at 5611 43rd Ave. E., just after 7 p.m. and noticed that her husband was not at home and that their boat, a white 16 foot Stump Knocker, was missing.

Jill Mullins contacted her husband's brother and he went out in a boat to search for Mullins. When he was unable to find Mullins, Jill Mullins called the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit responded to assist with the search but they were not able to locate Mullins. The Coast Guard found the couple's boat today.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Patrick Mullins is asked to please contact The Manatee County Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011 ext. 2260 or 2274.
