Drugs and Drunk Driving Keep Deputies Busy

The Sheriff's Office blotter for July 5-10 is packed with people overindulging.

July 5

12:02 a.m., N Cabrillo Hwy @ Venice Blvd.: DUI. Deputy on patrol advised to be on the lookout for a speeding and reckless vehicle. The Deputy located the vehicle and observed the vehicle traveling approximately 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, and performed a traffic stop. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

2:15 a.m., Airport @ La Granada, Moss Beach: DUI. Deputy on patrol observed vehicle driving down middle of road in a serpentine motion, swerving back and forth onto oncoming lane, and performed traffic stop on vehicle. The driver appeared to be intoxicated. CHP arrived on scene to complete the DUI investigation and subsequent arrest.

6:00 p.m., 500 block of Filbert: Burglary. Deputy took report of residential burglary when unknown suspect(s) entered the unlocked rear door of a house sometime between 0830 and 1800 hours, taking numerous items of value.

July 6

1:03 a.m., Johnson Pier, Princeton: Possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia; Under the influence of a controlled substance. Deputy on patrol made traffic stop on vehicle with no taillights and found the driver appeared to be under the influence of a controlledsubstance. The suspect was found in possession of a glass smoking pipe with white residue, and a baggie of suspected crystal methamphetamine. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

1:08 a.m., Ano Nuevo @ Cabrillo Hwy: DUI. Deputy observed vehicle parked on the shoulder of the highway late at night, and did welfare check on the subject. The subject was asleep in the vehicle with the engine running, and was difficult to awaken. The man smelled of alcohol and admitted to having been drinking. CHP responded to complete the DUI investigation and subsequent arrest.

6:58 a.m., 700 North St., Pescadero: Items stolen from vehicle. Deputy responded to report of stolen vehicle, which was located approximately one mile from the scene, with a radio, backpack and fishing gear missing. There was no damage to the vehicle.

10:31 a.m., 100 block of Stanford Ave., Princeton: Attempted burglary. Deputy dispatched to the report of attempted burglary, when unknown suspect(s) attempted to drill a padlock at a storage facility. A report was taken to document the incident.

6:47 p.m., 9400 block of N. Cabrillo Hwy, Moss Beach: Vehicle towed. Deputies responded to possible domestic dispute that was determined to be unfounded, however both the driver and passenger were found to have suspended driver’s licenses and were driving a rental car, rented by another person, and the rental period had since expired. The vehicle was towed at the rental company’s request.

10:53 p.m., 400 block of Alameda Ave., Miramar: Arson. Deputies dispatched to report that a male was making text threats to his landlord to burn the house after being told he was going to be evicted from the room he rented. Deputies responded and found a patch of carpet had been burned along with burn marks on three deck rails. A bottle of lighter fluid was found on a shelf in the subject’s bedroom. The man was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

July 7

6:28 p.m., Cyprus @ Pilarcitos: Suspended license. Driver cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

11:20 p.m., 200 block of S. Cabrillo Hwy: DUI. Deputy observed driver run a red light and performed traffic stop. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

July 8

12:01 a.m., 0-100 block of N. Cabrillo Hwy: Possession controlled substance; Felony committed while out on bail. Deputy on patrol observed a female attempting to break into a vehicle, which was determined to belong to her. The woman advised she locked her keys in the trunk and as deputies assisted her, a clear wrapper containing suspected methamphetamines fell out of her pocket. The woman was also found in possession of narcotic medication not prescribed to her. Deputies determined the woman to currently be out on bail for a prior methamphetamine charge, and she was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

12:01 a.m., N. Cabrillo Hwy @ Capistrano Rd., Princeton: DUI. Deputy on patrol observed driver slumped over the steering of his vehicle while on the side of the road. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and CHP responded to complete the DUI investigation and subsequent arrest.

 

July 9

4:56 p.m., 0-100 block N. Cabrillo Hwy: Public Intoxication. Deputies dispatched to report of intoxicated and belligerent subject in a restaurant. The subject was contacted and was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

 

July 10

12:01 a.m., S. Cabrillo Hwy @ Miramontes Pt. Rd,: Possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Deputy performed traffic stop on vehicle. The driver was found to be unlicensed and falsely identified himself to deputies. The suspect was found in possession of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.
