Drunk Drivers Nabbed By Police Over the Holidays

Here's what went down in Half Moon Bay Dec. 27-Jan. 1.

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Dec. 27

4000 block of N. Cabrillo - Felony warrant - Deputies made contact with 39 year old Half Moon Bay resident wanted on a felony warrant out of Redwood City. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

0-100 block of Oleander Un- incorporated - Misdemeanor warrant - Deputies made contact with 43 year old subject wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of San Mateo County. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

2000 block of Rossi Rd Un- incorporated - Public intoxication - Deputies dispatched to report of intoxicated subject urinating in public. The 63 year old man from Ben Lomand was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail, to be released when sober.

Grandview at Pacific Ave., Half Moon Bay - DUI - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle drifting side to side and crossing over fog lines. The Deputy performed a traffic stop and found the driver appeared to be intoxicated. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to First Chance.

0-100 block of Ave Alhambra,  El Granada - DUI - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle traveling without headlights on in the dark, and performed a traffic stop. The 23 year old driver from Moss Beach appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to First Chance.

11th at Main St., Montara - Public intoxication - Deputies dispatched to report of 55 year old man from Montara sleeping on the sidewalk. The man was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself, and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

Pescadero State Beach, Pescadero - County ordinance violation - Deputy on patrol checking the beaches, observed a vehicle in the beach parking lot after hours, and a bonfire on the beach. Several subjects from San Jose were contacted and admitted to ignoring the posted signs. Three adults were cited and released on their promise to appear in court.

Sunday, Dec. 29

400 block of Capistrano Rd., Princeton - Public intoxication - Deputy on patrol observed subject lying in the street in front of a bar, and made contact with the man, who was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail, to be released when sober.

200 block of Capistrano Rd., Princeton - Vandalism - Deputy took report of vandalism, when unknown suspect(s) used spray paint and markers to write on the walls of a commercial building.

Columbia at Princeton Ave., Princeton - Drive with suspended license - Driver cited for driving with a suspended license.

N. Cabrillo at Grand - DUI - Deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, and the driver failed to stop at two stop signs. The Deputy performed a traffic stop and found the driver appeared to be intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to First Chance.

Monday, Dec. 30

No incidents reported.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

200 block of Bridgeport, El Granada - Provisional license; transport passengers/ Information report - Deputy on patrol performed traffic stop on driver for failure to signal, and found the vehicle had six juveniles within. The juvenile driver had a provisional license and was not supposed to have passengers. A couple of cartons of eggs were found in the vehicle, and the juveniles admitted to throwing eggs at street signs, and that they may have accidentally hit somecars. Responsible adults were called to take custody of the juveniles, and had the juveniles clean several cars that had been egged. The report will be forwarded to juvenile probation for review.

700 block of Kelly Ave., Half Moon Bay - Disobey court order - Deputy took report of possible restraining order violation, when the protected party advised the restrained party was seen within 100 yards of her residence. The case will be forwarded to the DA for review.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

100 block of San Mateo Rd., Half Moon Bay - Stolen vehicle - Deputies dispatched to report of stolen vehicle, when a cab driver left his vehicle unlocked and keys within, while going into a convenience store. An unknown subject advised the cab driver that his vehicle had been taken. The victim and a co-worker located the cab at a nearby gas station, and pulled the suspect from the vehicle. The suspect fled on foot, but was located nearby and arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

Wavecrest at Highway 1, Half Moon Bay - DUI/traffic collision - Deputy dispatched to non-injury collision found the driver appeared to be driving under the influence. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to First Chance.

100 N. Cabrillo, Half Moon Bay - DUI - Deputies dispatched to report of intoxicated subject whose vehicle was stuck on a curb. The vehicle was found stuck on a cement curb, and the suspect driver located nearby. The suspect was unsteady on his feet and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to First Chance.
