Half Moon Bay and San Mateo County Crime Blotter: March 24-30

Read about public intoxication, vandalism and petty theft, among other things.

March 24

9 a.m., 500 block of Avenue Alhambra, El Granada: Vandalism. Between 6 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. on Thursday, an unknown person spray painted the rear stairwell area and the walls inside the covered carport parking area of a commercial building.

1:45-2:05 p.m., 0-100 block of Judith Court. Petty theft. Police responded to a report of theft after an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took money from her purse.

4:55 p.m., 100 block of San Mateo Road: Possession of property without serial number. Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle with a lighting violation and expired registration. The female driver was unable to produce a valid license and was found in possession of a notebook computer with the serial number removed. The woman was cited and released on her promise to appear in court.

March 25

8 a.m., Half Moon Bay High School: Possession of a controlled substance. Officers were dispatched to the high school on report of a student in possession of drugs. School staff found four pills of suspected MDMA in the student’s locker. Another student was found to be in possession of two pills suspected to be MDMA. Both students were arrested and released to their parents.

9 a.m., 900 block of Pacific: Peninsula Humane Society case: Officers were dispatched to a report of loose, aggressive dogs that killed a cat. Officers located three loose boxers and transported them to the police station, where they were collected by the humane society, along with the deceased cat.

11:59 a.m., Cabrillo Highway and Capistrano Road, Princeton: Warrant Arrest. Deputies made a traffic stop and contacted both the driver and passenger. The passenger told deputies that he “might” have a small warrant out of San Francisco. A routine check through county communications revealed that he had four outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was taken to county jail.

6:31 p.m., 1900 block of Pescadero Creek Road, Pescadero: Public Intoxication. Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at a restaurant. The reporting party told them that there was a drunken subject giving the waitress difficulties. Deputies contacted the subject, who asked if they were there to give him a ride home. He was escorted out of the restaurant. He was having trouble maintaining his balance and was unable to follow simple directions. Deputies determined that he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

10:21 p.m., Prospect Way, Princeton: Public Intoxication. Deputies were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated female sitting outside a local restaurant. They contacted the subject who had trouble communicating with the deputies. She was unable to provide any contact information or care for herself. She was arrested and taken to the county jail.

 

March 26

6 p.m., 100 block of Stanford, Princeton: Child Neglect. Deputies responded to Stanford Avenue to conduct a welfare check after a concerned citizen reported possible child endangerment. Upon initial contact, the male subject became physically combative with deputies. The investigation also revealed that both the male and his wife were providing extremely unsafe living condition for their 3-month-old baby. Child Protective Services responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. They took custody of the baby. The male subject was placed under arrest for felony child endangerment charges, as well as for resisting, delaying, and obstructing deputies from performing their duties. The female was placed under arrest for felony child endangerment charges. Both subjects were transported and booked into county jail.

7:11 p.m., 100 block of San Mateo Road: Possession of marijuana, Minor in Possession of alcohol: Officers contacted a group of subjects loitering in a vehicle of a drug store parking lot. Upon contact, officers could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle and three subjects were arrested on various charges. One suspect was arrested on charges of contributing to a minor. Another was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and alcohol. A third suspect was arrested on charges of obstructing an officer and public intoxication.

 

March 27

11:09 a.m., 200 block of Capistrano Road, Princeton: Public Intoxication. Deputies were dispatched to a restaurant on the report of a man loitering and bothering customers. Deputies contacted the man and asked him what he had in the jug. He replied, “breakfast.” It was determined that he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

11:38 a.m., Pescadero Creek Road, Pescadero: Theft. An employer became the victim of a grand theft and vandalism when a former employee stole irrigation pipes and damaged irrigation pipes and sprinklers on his property.

 

March 28

 7:50 a.m. 300 block of Butano Cut Off. Pescadero: Commercial Burglary. Between midnight on Sunday and 7:50 a.m. on Monday, an unknown suspect burglarized Pescadero High School. The person broke a window to gain entry and stole two Mac computers and a projector.

7:12 p.m., 600 block of Myrtle Street: Information report. Officers were contacted by a citizen who said his iPhone was stolen in Gilroy, and was traced to a location in Half Moon Bay. Officers were able to locate the iPhone.

11:25 p.m., Miramontes Point Road: Information report. Officers contacted a group of seven subjects in a beach parking lot in possession of 32 containers of alcoholic beverages. The subjects all identified themselves as under the age of 21 except one 21-year-old. The 21-year-old claimed the alcohol was his, and denied he was going to furnish it to any minors. The beer was collected for safekeeping. The 21-year-old requested that it be destroyed.

 

March 29-30

7:22 a.m., 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway. Information report. Officers responded to report of liquid in the roadway making the pavement slick. Fire responded and closed the area to vehicle traffic while Public Works and Cal Trans used absorbents to remove what appeared to be oil.

Unknown time, various locations: Theft. Officers were contacted by a citizen regarding the fraudulent use of her bankcard after the victim discovered two unauthorized charges on her account, one in Pennsylvania and one in New Jersey. The victim notified her bank and canceled her account.

 

March 30

3:31 a.m., 100 block of Avenue Granada, El Granada: Public Intoxication. On Wednesday, March 30, deputies were dispatched to Avenue Granada in El Granada regarding an intoxicated female banging on the front door. The suspect was contacted by deputies. She told them that she lived at the residence. The reporting party told the deputies that she had let the subject and her male friend stay for one night but she was not welcome to stay any longer. The female was too intoxicated to care for herself. She was arrested and taken to county jail.

2:08 p.m., 200 block of San Mateo Road: Petty theft with priors. Officers were dispatched to a report of petty theft when a known transient reportedly stole a pair of shoes from a store, put them on his feet and discarded his old ones in some bushes. The subject was identified by an employee, arrested and transported to county jail.

4:35 p.m., 200 block of Main Street: Robbery, Assault with a deadly weapon, Causing harm to an elder. Officers were dispatched to a report of assault that just occurred. Police contacted the elderly male victim who reported being assaulted by a subject riding a bike. The suspect took the victim’s belt, which he had been holding for protection. The victim was treated for an abrasion to the head. The suspect was located, arrested and transported to county jail.
