Half Moon Bay and Sheriff's Office Police Blotter - March 1- March 8, 2011

Theft, Drugs, ID Theft, DUI, Vandalism, Auto Burglary, Disorderly conduct; alcohol, Disturbance, Missing person, Receiving stolen property, Minor in possession alcohol, Possession of marijuana

March 1-4

Unknown time, 600 block of Main Street: Information report. Officers were dispatched to a Main Street business that reported unknown subject(s) removed three cardboard signs and knocked over a makeshift fence. There was no damage to the fence, but the caller requested that the incident be documented.

March 2

6:30 a.m., 400 block of San Juan Avenue, El Granada: Theft. Unknown suspects stole a rented professional carpet cleaner out of a vehicle parked on San Juan Avenue.

9:47 p.m., 300 block of California Avenue, Moss Beach: Drugs. A resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report her adult son’s drug use in the residence. The man is on active probation with search and seizure conditions. His bedroom was searched and drugs were found. He was arrested and booked into county jail.

 

March 3

5:11 p.m., Vermont Avenue, Moss Beach: ID Theft. A woman reported that an unknown person tried to access her credit information using the website freecreditreport.com. She requested that a fraud alert be placed on her account.

 

6 p.m., 0-100 North Cabrillo Highway: Disorderly conduct; alcohol. Officers were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated subject jaywalking across the highway. The subject was arrested on charges of public intoxication and transported to First Chance.

 

8:45 p.m., Jenna at Cypress: Disorderly conduct. Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated subject who refused to relinquish his car keys to a relative, who then called police. The man was arrested for public intoxication and transported to First Chance.

 

March 4

12:05 a.m., 400 block of Kelly: Disturbance. Police were dispatched to a fight in progress. Two adult brothers had a physical altercation at their home. They declined medical attention and prosecution.

 

2 a.m., Cabrillo Highway and Coronado Street: DUI. Deputies saw a vehicle drifting over the marked lines of the highway. They made a traffic stop to check the driver’s welfare. Upon contact with the driver, deputies smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. A DUI test was conducted and failed. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail.

 

10:21 p.m., Pescadero State Beach Parking Lot: Drugs. Suspects were contacted inside their vehicle in the parking lot of Pescadero State Beach. Authorities learned that the female passenger is on active probation out of Mendocino County. The male driver was found to have a suspended license. The man admitted to driving to the beach, stating that he did not want to lie about it. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 10 pounds of marijuana packaged and marked for transport and resale. Both the driver and the passenger were arrested and booked accordingly. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded.

 

Unknown time, Main at Arnold: Receiving stolen property. Officers responded to report of a subject with a stolen bicycle. The reporting party contacted a male subject in possession of his nephew’s stolen bicycle. The subject denied that the bicycle was stolen and refused to return it. Police contacted the suspect who claimed he borrowed the bike from his uncle. The uncle denied loaning the suspect a bicycle, and the suspect was arrested and transported to county jail.

 

March  4-5

Unknown time, 400 block of Cypress: Missing person. Officers took a report of missing 11-year-old who did not return home, and whose mother believes is staying with an unknown friend.

 

March 5

1 p.m., Purissima at Miramontes Street: Minor in possession alcohol, Possession of marijuana under 28.5 grams. Police were dispatched to a report of juveniles loitering and consuming alcohol. Officers contacted four subjects and determined the owner of the vehicle was a 17-year-old who had consumed alcohol and was in possession of marijuana. The juvenile was arrested and released to a parent. Two other juveniles were released to a responsible adult, and the fourth subject was an adult.

 

Unknown time, 0-100 block of San Mateo Road: Possession of controlled substance, Driving with suspended license; prior DUI. An officer on patrol observed a driver known to have a suspended driver’s license. The officer performed a traffic stop and found the male subject to be on probation with search and seizure conditions. Both the driver and his wife initially denied having any illegal drugs or contraband in their possession, but the female later admitted to hiding two baggies of methamphetamine in her bra. her husband handed them to her when they were pulled over. The man and woman were both arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance and their two small children, passengers in the vehicle, were released to a relative.

 

7:26 p.m., Casa Del Mar at North Cabrillo: Possession of marijuana under 28.5 grams: A driver was cited for possession of small amount of marijuana.

 

8:30 p.m., 200 block of Filbert: Missing person. Police took a report of runaway 16-year-old.

 

March 6

1:42 a.m., Pilarcitos at Willow Avenue: Information report. Officers performed a traffic stop on a man and notified him that his driver’s license was suspended.

 

March 7

8:21 a.m., Marine Boulevard and Cabrillo Highway, Moss Beach: Drugs. A subject was contacted during a traffic stop at the intersection of Marine Boulevard and Cabrillo Highway in Moss Beach. A records check through County Communications produced a warrant for his arrest. While conducting a search, authorities found a small clear Ziploc bag containing crystal methamphetamines on his person. The subject was arrested and taken to county jail.

 

4:50 p.m., Carlos and Sixteenth streets, Moss Beach: Vandalism. Deputies were dispatched to a report of vandalism in progress. They contacted the subject, who was in possession of spray paint and other graffiti-related items. The subject admitted to painting a retaining wall. He also told the deputies that he is a spray paint enthusiast.

 

March 7-8

11 a.m. to noon, 100 block of Main: Petty theft. Police took a report of a stolen battery from a truck.

 

March 8

 8 a.m., Sevilla Avenue, El Granada, Auto Burglary. Between Feb. 26 at approximately 8 a.m. and Feb. 27 at about 9 a.m., a citizen of El Granada was the victim of a grand theft from her vehicle. Unknown suspect(s) entered her locked but unsecured vehicle through the partially rolled down driver's side window. The unknown suspect(s) stole her Gateway laptop computer and her black leather purse containing miscellaneous items. She valued the total loss at approximately $7,760.

 

9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., 500 block of Seymour: Information report: Officers responded to a report of a possible prowler after the caller returned home and found muddy footprints around the residence. Several window screens were removed, but no entry was made to the residence.
