HMB Police to be Sworn In by Sheriff Munks Today

The public ceremony will take place at the San Mateo History Museum in Redwood City.

At 11 a.m. this morning, San Mateo County Sheriff Greg Munks will swear in 14 Half Moon Bay Police Officers as Sheriff's Deputies.

The ceremony will take place at the San Mateo History Museum/Old Redwood City Courthouse. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Munks plans to expand the school resource, community service and Sheriff's Activities League programs in Half Moon Bay.

Half Moon Bay's Police Department was officially transitioned to the Sheriff's Office at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, June 12. The former department, located at Shoreline Station, will now serve as a substation. Deputies patrolling the unincorporated San Mateo Coastside will continue to use the Moss Beach substation off Highway 1 as a home base.

Lt. Lisa Williams assumed command of the  Half Moon Bay force from former Interim Police Chief Lee Violett.

"My team and I are very excited about working in  Half Moon Bay," Williams said. "Our approach to deliver superior service will be to listen to residents and respond accordingly."

Williams will maintain an office at the Half Moon Bay substation, but it will not serve as her main office, according to Violett.

The San Mateo History Museum is located at 2200 Broadway, Redwood City.
