Interested in Running For a Seat on the Coastside Fire Protection Board?

There's still time to qualify as a write-in candidate for the Recall Election.

The write-in candidate filing period for individuals interested in pursuing a seat on the Coastside Fire Protection Board of Directors runs through March 26, 2013, according to San Mateo County’s Chief Election Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, Mark Church.

To qualify for the Special Recall Election, potential write-in candidates must file their paperwork by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at the San Mateo County Elections Division at 40 Tower Road.

Candidates are advised to schedule an appointment, to ensure an adequate amount of time for instruction and document processing.  Those interested should contact the Candidate Filing Officer, Meaghan Hassel Shearer, at (650) 312-5293 or email mhasselshearer@smcare.org to schedule an appointment.

Potential write-in candidates must file a Statement of Write-In Candidacy providing the candidate’s name and residential address, the candidate’s declaration of candidacy and a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700).

“This election is being conducted to determine if Michael Alifano, A. Douglas Mackintosh, and/or Gary Riddell, members of the Coastside Fire Protection District Board of Directors, shall be recalled from office,” said Church. “If a majority of the recall vote is affirmative as to any of the three offices, the election shall also determine the successor(s) for the recalled seat(s) on the Board of Directors. Accordingly, interested candidates must decide which of the three members’ seats they wish to hold.”
