Lightning Ignites 60-Ft. Tree on Thursday
Coastside Fire District/Cal FIRE wait for 12 hours on scene to extinguish blaze in Kings Mountain.
Lightning set a 60-ft. Douglas fir tree on fire during Thursday night's storm in the unincorporated community of Kings Mountain, according to fire captain Jonathan Cox of the Coastside Fire District/Cal FIRE.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found the top third of the tree ablaze, Cox said.
"It appeared that two adjacent trees were struck by lightning as well," Cox added.

Firefighters from the Coastside Fire District/Cal FIRE and the San Mateo County Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze after waiting 12 hours for the flames to subside, Cox said.
