Man Dies After Car Plunges Into Agricultural Pond
The incident took place in Davenport on Thursday.
An 18-year-old Scotts Valley man died on Thursday after the car he was in went off an embankment and plunged into an agricultural pond in Davenport, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Joseph Freeman-Dellamora was sitting in the passenger seat of a 1999 Land Rover driven by a 49-year-old man from Davenport.
The two were traveling on private property in the 5500 block of Coast Road when, at about 4:30 p.m., the driver lost control of the Land Rover, according to the CHP.

The car traveled off an embankment and into an agricultural pond.
The driver was able to free himself and get out of the car.

Freeman-Dellamora, however, remained in the vehicle under the water for an unknown amount of time.
A witness came to his rescue, but after he was taken to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, he succumbed to his injuries, according to the CHP.
The driver of the Land Rover suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
