A 54-year-old man has been identified as the victim killed in a big-rig crash Friday night on the northbound Interstate Highway 280 connector ramp to eastbound state Highway 92 in San Mateo County, according to the San Mateo County coroner's office.
Steve Nelson, of Lodi, was killed in the 10:47 p.m. crash that that shut down the connector ramp. The coroner's office said Nelson was in a solo-vehicle accident.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert at 11:26 p.m., and that traffic advisory remains in effect this afternoon.
The closed ramp is expected to reopen by 5 p.m., according to the CHP.
The crash caused a big-rig to overturn and damaged a light pole and guardrail along the roadway, according to the CHP.
A CHP officer said this afternoon crews were removing large chunks of concrete and debris and were repairing the roadway.
