A Moss Beach woman was struck by a driver on El Camino Real in Belmont Thursday evening, according to police.

The collision occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Ruth Avenue and El Camino Real, according to Capt. Patrick Halleran.

The pedestrian, a 49-year-old Moss Beach woman, was crossing Ruth Avenue northbound when she was struck by a Honda sedan turning right on to El Camino from Ruth, Halleran said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 26-year-old Belmont man, appears to have stopped for the stop sign at Ruth but failed to see the pedestrian, Halleran said.

The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and thought the driver saw her.

Halleran said motorists should be alert for pedestrians and bicyclists, and pedestrians should not assume drivers see them.
