Motorcycle Hits 15-Year-Old in Moss Beach

Highway 1 accident sends girl to Stanford Hospital this morning.

A 15-year-old girl walking across Highway 1 on Tuesday morning in Moss Beach was hit by a motorcycle and airlifted to Stanford Hospital, the California State Highway Patrol reported.

Moss Beach resident Mark Kowart, 48, was riding his Suzuki motorcycle south on Highway 1 at 6:50 a.m. when he hit the girl walking eastbound across the highway at Virginia St., CHP Public Information Officer Scott Niemeth said.

The girl was on her way to school when she was struck by the motorcycle, according to Niemeth. She was airlifted to Stanford Hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
