Ocean Colony Neighbor Yells Profanities in Her Backyard, Teen Runs Away After Argument With Family

Here's what went down in Half Moon Bay last weekend.

Friday, Nov. 29

2:05 a.m. - Carmel at Valencia, El Granada - DUI/Possession concentrated cannabis - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle with expired registration, and then observed the vehicle speed up quickly as though attempting to get away. The Deputy performed a traffic stop and found the odor of alcohol and marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The 27 year old driver from Half Moon Bay appeared to be under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana, and failed field sobriety tests. Marijuana, a pipe, and suspected hashish were located in the vehicle. The man was arrested and transported to First Chance.

4:45 - 10:58 p.m. - Kelly at Main Street, Half Moon Bay - Missing juvenile - Deputies dispatched to report of missing 15-year-old female, when the juvenile left on foot after getting into an argument with her guardian, during a visit to Half Moon Bay. The family was from out of state, and the juvenile was unfamiliar with the area. The Sheriff’s Office put out a BOL, SMC alert, and contacted the local media in attempts to locate the juvenile. The juvenile was eventually located and released to the custody of her guardian.

7:19 p.m. - Pescadero State Beach, Pescadero - Public intoxication - Deputy dispatched to report of subject in the water refusing to get out. Upon arrival the man was out of the water and involved in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend. He was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

Saturday, Nov. 30

4:47 p.m. - 0-100 block of Sumac, Unincorporated - Misdemeanor warrant - Deputies made contact with a subject wanted on a misdemeanor warrant out of San Mateo County. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

Sunday, Dec. 1

12:05 a.m. - 200 block of Metzgar, Half Moon Bay - Vandalism/Public intoxication/Battery - Deputies dispatched to report of vandalism, when the reporting party advised a female was outside her residence, breaking several windows with a rake. The suspect, a 31 year old from Pacifica, was reported to have been drinking alcohol with one of the residents of the home, when an argument began, and the suspect struck the resident in the face. The resident then locked the woman out of the house, and the woman began striking the house with the rake. The woman was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

1 a.m. - 500 block of Kelly, Half Moon Bay - Assault with deadly weapon/Battery - Deputies dispatched to report of assault, when an unknown suspect hit the victim once in the head with a beer bottle, resulting in injuries requiring medical treatment. When the victim’s girlfriend tried to help, she was kicked in the stomach by the unknown suspect’s girlfriend. Both suspects fled the scene prior to Deputies’ arrival.

3:11 a.m. - 0-100 block of A venue Alhambra, El Granada - Public intoxication - Deputies dispatched to report of intoxicated male subject, 64, from Princeton, who could not pay his cab fare. The man was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself, and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail, to be released when sober.

100 block of Higgins Canyon, Half Moon Bay - Recovered stolen vehicle - A stolen vehicle was recovered, that had been stolen out of an outside jurisdiction.

12:17 p.m. - Kelly at Potter, Half Moon Bay - Traffic collision - Deputies dispatched to report of vehicle vs. pedestrian, when a small child ran out into the street and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The child was treated by paramedics, and transported by LifeFlight to Stanford Hospital.

3:45 p.m. - 100 block of Cypress Point Road, Half Moon Bay - Disobey court order - Deputy dispatched to report of possible violation of a no harassment order, when the reporting party reported the restrained party was in her own backyard, and yelling profanities. The reporting party believed the yelling was intended to harass him and his wife. The restrained party was contacted and denied intention to harass her neighbors. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review.
