Police Blotter: Dog Knocks Woman to Ground; Man Chases Woman on Beach

Blotter for Half Moon Bay and the unincorporated San Mateo County Coastside from April 28-May 4, 2011.

April 28

8:32 a.m., Miramontes Point Road and Highway 1: Warrant Arrest. Deputies made a traffic stop and found that the driver did not have a driver’s license. He also had a warrant for his arrest. He was taken to county jail.

7:30 p.m., 500 block of Avenue Cabrillo, El Granada: Theft. Unknown suspects entered a vehicle and stole an estimated $400 worth of tools.

April 29

12:35 a.m., 400 block of Main: Disorderly conduct. Officers observed a subject vomiting out the driver’s side door of his parked vehicle. The man was contacted and determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to First Chance, where he was later released from custody.

10:50 a.m., 400 block of Kelly: Possession of marijuana on school grounds. Police were dispatched to Pilarcitos High School on report of a student in possession of marijuana. The student was in possession of five plastic baggies of marijuana. The suspect fled the school office before police arrived. The case will be forwarded to the DA for review on charges of probation violation for possession of a cell phone, and possession of marijuana on school grounds.

12:40 p.m., HMBHS: Possession of weapon at school: Officers responded to the high school on report of a student in possession of a knife on school grounds. The student said he placed the knife in his pocket over the weekend and forgot to take it out. The student was advised that the knife was considered a switchblade and was taken as evidence.

April 30

1:20 p.m., Johnson Pier, Princeton: Warrant Arrest. A suspect known to have outstanding felony warrants was located at Pillar Point Harbor and a traffic stop was initiated. Before being apprehended, there was a short foot pursuit and the suspect tossed away a case that contained drug pipes and a baggie with suspected methamphetamine, which was subsequently recovered as evidence. The suspect was booked into county jail for arrest warrants totaling $102,500.

4:55 p.m., 600 block of Third: Disturbance. Officers were dispatched to a report of a dispute between a resident of a foreclosed home and the purchaser who came to evict him. Officers advised both parties to follow the civil procedure.

11:47 p.m., 200 block of Pilarcitos Avenue: Probation violation. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, when the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The driver was determined to be an unlicensed juvenile on probation. Police located the vehicle, which was parked blocking traffic to a residential complex. The vehicle was towed for blocking a driveway. The case will be forwarded to the DA for review.

Unknown time, Poplar beach: Vandalism. Officers discovered gang-related spray-painted graffiti in the Poplar beach bathrooms.

May 1

2:55 p.m., Clouds Rest Park and Ride: Robbery. Three people were picked up in Sunnyvale and transported to Cloud's Rest lookout in San Mateo County. While at that location, they were robbed of their cell phones and then chased by the suspects. The trio, while running away from the suspects, flagged down some passing motorists who helped them. One of the passing vehicles gave chase to the suspect vehicle, which fled the area. A driver was able to retrieve a make and plate of the suspect vehicle, which was given to the sheriff's office.

4:19 p.m., Poplar Beach: Suspicious circumstance. Police responded to a report of a suspicious occurrence when the caller said a male was chasing a female on the beach. Police searched the area, but did not locate any couple matching their description. The caller told police that the male and female exchanged words and the male threw the female to the ground. The female eventually got up and walked away with the male.

7 p.m., Cabrillo Highway and La Honda Road: Auto Burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s locked vehicle by smashing a window. The vehicle was parked in the area of Highway 1 and La Honda Road. Two purses containing various credit cards, jewelry, and cash were taken for a total loss of approximately $2,235.

May 2

 9:33 p.m., 300 block of Capistrano Road, Princeton: Public Intoxication. Deputies were dispatched to a local bar on the report of a disturbance. They met with an employee who told them that a drunken subject has left the bar without paying his bill. Deputies located the subject asleep on a nearby beach. The subject was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and taken to county jail.

Unknown time, 400 block of Willow: Outside agency assist. Officers received a request from an outside agency to attempt to locate a runaway juvenile at her 18-year-old boyfriend’s residence in HMB. The runaway was located and transported to Your House South in Redwood City, until she could be picked up by a parent.

May 3

12:48 p.m., 400 block of Avenue Alhambra: Theft. Deputies were dispatched to Avenue Alhambra on a report of a commercial burglary. They arrived and contacted the reporting party and business owner. The owner explained that unknown suspects entered his restaurant and stole computer equipment and cash.

Noon – 3 p.m., Poplar Beach. Petty theft. Officers took a report of the theft of a wallet, sunglasses and a cell phone from a vehicle.

May 4

7:45 p.m., Pine at Pilarcitos: Vicious dog. Officers were dispatched to report of a vicious dog. The victim was walking by a subject with two dogs off leash when one of the dogs knocked the female victim to ground, causing minor injuries. The owner and his two dogs fled the area on foot. The owner is described as a white male adult in his 40s, approximately 6 feet tall and 225 pounds. He was wearing a baseball cap and shorts with a large gray “wolf-like” dog and a medium-sized black dog.
