Police Blotter - Feb. 1-9, 2011

Burglary, Traffic collision, Vandalism, Disturbance, Theft of personal property, Welfare check, Grand theft, Petty Theft, False ID to Peace Officer, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Prescription Medication.

Feb. 1 and Feb 2

4 p.m., 200 block of San Mateo Road: Burglary. An officer responded to a report of burglary from vehicle. Unknown suspect(s) broke a window to a vehicle. The burglary took place between Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 2 at 6 a.m.

Feb. 3

6:45 a.m., 3000 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Traffic collision. Traffic collision -- property damage only.

7:50 a.m., Highway 1 at Coronado Street: Traffic collision. Traffic collision -- property damage only.

12:30 p.m., 300 block of Main Street: Disturbance. Officers were dispatched to a Main Street business on report of a disturbance between employer and employee.

Unknown time, 200 block of Main Street: Vandalism. An officer took a report of gang-related graffiti.

 

Feb. 4

5:40 a.m., Highway 1 at Grandview: DUI. Officers responded to report of possible intoxicated driver and observed the vehicle swerving before performing traffic stop. The driver was found to be on parole and subject to search. The driver appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and was in possession of a concealed glass pipe and four plastic bindles of a substance believed to be cocaine. He was arrested and transported to county jail.

10:55 a.m., 0-100 block of Valencia: Disturbance. Officers were dispatched to neighbor disturbance.

12:56 p.m., 0-100 block of Miramontes Point Road: Information Report. Officers were dispatched to report of a suspicious circumstance. A hotel guest found a note that may have implied the writer was suicidal. Police checked the area but did not locate anyone or anything suspicious.

Unknown time, 500 block of Ocean: Theft of personal property. Officers were dispatched to a report of theft from a vehicle. Unknown suspect(s) took a laptop from an unlocked vehicle.

Feb. 5

3:27 p.m., Seymour Street: Possession of Marijuana Under28.5 Grams, Possession of Prescription Medication. Officers responded to coastal trail to disperse 8-10 gang members loitering in the area. One juvenile was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana and prescription medication not belonging to her. She was arrested and released to a parent.

 

Feb. 6

1:35 p.m., Northbound Highway 1 at Frenchman’s Creek: Traffic collision. Traffic collision -- property damage only.

5:30 p.m., 600 block of Main Street. Vandalism. Police responded to report of vandalism to three planters outside a Main Street business.

 

Feb. 7

8:20 p.m., 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Petty Theft, False ID to Peace Officer. Officers responded to report of shoplifter in custody. A subject was caught outside a store without paying for a sweatshirt. The suspect gave police a false name before revealing his true identity. He was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

5:43 p.m., 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Welfare check. Officers conducted a welfare check.

 

Feb. 8

11:45 a.m., 400 block of Wavecrest: Grand theft. Police received a report of grand theft.

8:17 p.m., Highway 1 at Poplar: Information report. An officer on patrol observed a vehicle with no taillights and performed traffic stop. The juvenile driver was found to be in violation of the provisions of her driver’s license and was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was cited and released to a parent.

 

Feb. 9

2:42 a.m., Highway 1 at Young: DUI. An officer on patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and performed traffic stop. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. She was arrested and transported to First Chance.

1:55 p.m., 1500 block of Mizzen Lane: Barking Dog. Police received a complaint about a barking dog.
