Police Blotter - Feb. 9-15, 2011

Receiving stolen property, Possession of burglary tools, Possession a controlled substance, Burglary, Obstructing an officer, Minor in possession of alcohol, Hit and run, property damage, Grand theft, Petty theft, Traffic collision, Domestic battery, DUI.

Feb. 9

5:10 p.m., 16300 block of Skyline Boulevard. Incident report. Deputies were dispatched to a report of five lost hikers. Deputies located the hikers, could hear their voices and told them to remain in their present location. They were able to locate them by the beam of light from a flashlight that one of the hikers had with them. All were found in good condition and none of them required any medical attention.

10 p.m., Cabrillo Highway and Fairway Drive, Half Moon Bay. DUI. Deputies made a traffic stop. When they contacted the driver, they could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking alcohol before driving the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted and failed. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail.

Feb. 10

12:52 a.m., 9800 block of Cabrillo Highway, Moss Beach. Weapons. A man was contacted during a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation in the area of Moss Beach. A protective search of the vehicle yielded one fixed blade knife with a 4-inch blade from the driver's door storage area. The man was placed under arrest for possessing a deadly weapon and booked into county jail without incident. His vehicle was towed away from the scene

 11:26 a.m., 300 block of California Avenue, Moss Beach. Warrant Arrest. Deputies were dispatched to a medical aid at the listed address. The reporting party told deputies that her mother did not feel well. A routine check through county communications revealed that the reporting party had a “no bail” warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken to county jail.

8:30 p.m., 400 block of Valdez: Receiving stolen property, Possession of burglary tools, Possession of a controlled substance. Officers were dispatched to a report of a verbal disturbance between mother and son. Officers performed a probation search and found numerous items in the son’s room believed to have been stolen. After further investigation, officers got in touch with the suspect two days later and an additional search produced additional stolen property. Several Ecstasy tablets were located and a Ziploc bag containing several dozen marijuana plant seeds. The 18-year-old was arrested and transported to county jail.

Feb. 10-12

3:30 p.m. – 10 a.m., 600 block of Potter: Grand theft. Police were dispatched to meet with a citizen regarding the theft of a bicycle from a front yard. The specialized road bike was valued $1,000.

Feb. 11

12:24 a.m., 2300 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Burglary.  An officer was dispatched to a nursery on a report of a theft after unknown suspect(s) entered the nursery and took $3,500 worth of specialty/exotic plants.

4:47 p.m., 1500 block of Sunshine Valley Road, Moss Beach. Drugs. Deputies contacted a woman on Sunshine Valley Road.  A consent search of her vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine.  It was also determined the woman had violated an active restraining order against her.  She was subsequently arrested for possession of methamphetamine and disobeying a court order.  She was transported and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility. 

6 p.m., 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Burglary, Receiving stolen property, Obstructing an officer, Minor in possession of alcohol. Officers on patrol observed a known 18-year-old man riding a bicycle while carrying a 30-pack case of beer. Police attempted to contact the man, who discarded the beer in the roadway and fled from police on his bicycle. Police located the man, who threw his bicycle down and began to run from police again, onto Cunha School campus. Officers and sheriff’s deputies set up positions around the school and located the suspect in a dumpster nearby. Police learned that the beer had been stolen a short time before from a drug store. He was arrested and transported to county jail.

 

Feb. 12

2:15 p.m., Montara: Outside agency assist. Officers were contacted by a citizen who found her deceased husband’s firearm, which she once reported missing to the sheriff’s office.

2:43 p.m., Devil’s Slide. Warrant Arrest. Deputies made a traffic stop and contacted the driver and occupants of the vehicle. After a routine check through county communications, the driver and front passenger were released. The rear passenger gave deputies false information. After a short time talking to her, she finally told deputies her real name and that she lied because she had outstanding warrants. Four warrants were confirmed for the subject. She was arrested and taken to county jail.

3:56 p.m., Cabrillo Highway and Coronado Street, Princeton. Warrant Arrest. Deputies made a traffic stop and found that the driver of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed and the subject was arrested and taken to county jail.

6:45 p.m., 200 block of San Mateo Road: Hit and run, property damage. Police took report of non-injury hit-and-run collision after an unknown driver collided with a parked vehicle and left without exchanging information.

Feb. 13

8:40 a.m., 300 block of California Street, Moss Beach. Drugs. Deputies were conducting a probation search. While searching the room of the subject, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and taken to county jail.

Feb. 14

10:30 a.m., 800 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Petty theft. Officers took report of the theft of rain boots and a rain jacket. A 50-year-old transient suspect was cited and released on his promise to appear in court.

12:53 a.m., Palma Street and Santa Maria Avenue, El Granada. Restraining Order Violation. A welfare check was conducted on a subject sleeping in the driver's seat of a van on Palma Street.  The subject was determined to be in violation of an active restraining order against him.  He was arrested, transported and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.

2:15-2:25 p.m., 100 block of San Mateo Road: Hit and run, property damage.  Officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run traffic collision after an unknown driver rear-ended the victim’s vehicle and left the scene without exchanging information.

6:52 p.m., Highway 1 at Redondo Beach Road: Traffic collision. Traffic collision with minor injury.

8:30 p.m., Carmel and Sonora avenues, El Granada. DUI. County communications advised deputies of a possible drunk driver. Deputies located the vehicle and contacted the driver. The driver admitted to drinking two to three vodkas before driving the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted and failed. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail.

Feb. 15

3 p.m., 600 block of Spruce: Domestic battery. Officers were dispatched to a report of domestic battery after a female claimed that a male hit her hand with a belt during an argument. The female had no visible injuries, but the male was contacted and had scratches on his face and chin. The female was arrested on charges of domestic battery.

5:30-5:35 p.m., 0-100 block of North Cabrillo Highway: Traffic collision, property damage only. One driver was cited for driving without a license.

6:25 p.m., Miramontes Point Road: Traffic collision, property damage only.
