Police Blotter - March 9- March 14, 2011

Grand theft, Noise complaint, Auto Burglary, Public Intoxication, Commercial Burglary, Warrant Arrest, Disorderly conduct.

March 9

11:37 a.m., 10th Street, Montara: Auto Burglary. Unknown suspects entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took various items.

12:15 p.m., 500 block of Terrace: Grand theft: Officers were dispatched to a report of theft from a vehicle after an unknown suspect took tools valued at $980 from a truck.

11:20 p.m., 0-100 block of Stone Pine: Noise complaint: Police responded to a complaint about loud music and noise coming from a restaurant late in the evening.

 

4:25 a.m., 100 block of Madrid Avenue, El Granada: Public Intoxication. Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance call. Upon arrival, they made contact with a subject.  His eyes were red, glassy and watery. His speech was rapid and slurred and deputies could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his person. He was unable to follow simple instructions and was unable to care for himself. He is currently having a conflict with a neighbor who lives downstairs in a separate apartment. For the past two nights, he has consumed a large amount of alcohol into the early hours of the morning. He left his apartment to continually bang on the neighbor's door and yelled profanities at him. Due to his intoxicated condition, he was placed under arrest for public intoxication.

 

9:10 a.m., 400 block of Avenue Alhambra, El Granada: Commercial Burglary. Between March 9 at 10 p.m. and March 10 at 9:10 a.m., unknown suspects used a key to enter a business. The suspects stole $136 in cash, eight employee paychecks, a key to the storage container and a small safe.

 

4:59 p.m., Beach Avenue, Moss Beach: Incident Report. Deputies were dispatched to check the beach for a suspicious crate. The crate was labeled “Do Not Handle” and “Flammable.” The Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was notified and responded. The crate was taken by the Bomb Squad to be disposed of properly.

 

March 11

11:50 p.m., Cabrillo Highway and Wavecrest Road, El Granada: DUI. Deputies were monitoring traffic when they noticed a dark colored vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 1. The driver was having trouble maintaining control of the vehicle and staying in the lanes. Deputies stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver. They could smell alcohol coming from the driver. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. Field sobriety tests were conducted and failed. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail.

 

March 12

4:13 a.m., 11000 San Mateo Road, Half Moon Bay: Public Intoxication. Deputies were dispatched to a call about a man calling for help and possible subjects with guns. Deputies contacted the subject and immediately noticed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. He told the deputies that two men drove him to a bar in Redwood City. After leaving the bar, the driver told him that there was a gun under the seat of the vehicle. They drove him to a house in Half Moon Bay then left him alone for a period of time. He felt uneasy so he walked away from the house and called police. He could not describe the subjects or their truck. He was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and taken to the county jail.

 

March 13

7:29 a.m., 300 block of Columbus Street, El Granada: Warrant Arrest. Deputies contacted the resident in an attempt to serve a warrant. The subject was contacted, the warrant was confirmed and he was arrested and taken to county jail.

 

March 14

10:22 p.m., Highway 1 at Van Ness: Disorderly conduct. Officers contacted an intoxicated subject walking a bicycle along Highway 1. The man was deemed too intoxicated to care for himself and was arrested and transported to First Chance, where he was later released from custody.
