UPDATE Aug. 7, 2012, 4 p.m.:
A 65-year-old Pescadero man was killed in a crash yesterday evening on Pescadero Creek Road, a California Highway Patrol Officer said today.
Gerald Kearby was driving west in a white Ford pickup truck on Pescadero Creek Road west of Roy Gulch Road when the crash happened at about 6:40 p.m., CHP Officer Art Montiel said.
Upon arrival at the scene, responding units located the pick up truck overturned and against a tree south of the roadway.
It appears the Ford was traveling westbound on Pescadero Creek Road when for unknown reasons Kearby allowed the Ford to leave the paved roadway. Attempting to regain control of the Ford, Kearby traveled across the eastbound lane where it collided with a tree, according to CHP officials.
The driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased by on scene paramedics.
It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision, according to the CHP report.
Traffic was controlled and restricted to one lane for approximately three hours during the on scene investigation.
