Saturation Patrol Planned in Half Moon Bay This Week

San Mateo County sheriff's officials will partner with the Burlingame, Pacifica and Belmont Police Departments in the San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program, also known as S.T.E.P.

Officers will be out in full force around the Half Moon Bay area this Friday, July 11, in the latest installment of a countywide traffic safety initiative. 
 
According to the county's Office of Emergency Services, "...expect to see a multi-Agency Team of Traffic Officers in the Half Moon Bay area on their motorcycles conducting various enforcement activities."
 
San Mateo County sheriff's officials will partner with the Burlingame, Pacifica and Belmont Police Departments in the San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program, also known as S.T.E.P.
 
"This collaborative law enforcement deployment aims to increase traffic safety and awareness in known trouble spots throughout San Mateo County," a press release issued Wednesday stated.   "The team will be doing traffic saturation enforcement focused on speed, proper stopping at red lights and stop signs, cell phone use, and seatbelt violations. The team will also focus on pedestrian safety and related violations."
 
Officials say the operation is expected to produce "immediate and tangible" solutions to local traffic issues, making the county safer. 
 
"Deputies and Officers will be taking enforcement action against observed violations with the intention of correcting unsafe behavior," the announcement stated.
