Sheriff’s Blotter: Half-Empty Wine Bottle Lifted in La Honda Eatery Break-In; DUI Suspect Crashes Into Telephone Pole

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Dec. 21

6:50 p.m. – Public Intoxication - 000 block of Avenue Alhambra, El Granada - Deputy dispatched to hotel on report of a belligerent guest, who was determined to be too intoxicated to care for herself. She was arrested for public intoxication and transported to SM County Jail, to be released when sober.

9:51 p.m. – Traffic Collision – Touraine Lane, Half Moon Bay - Deputies were dispatched to report of hit and run collision, when a driver hit a mailbox, then told the homeowner he would return, and left the scene. Deputies made contact with the driver by phone, who eventually gave four different accounts of how the collision occurred and where he went afterward. The driver eventually returned to the scene and exchanged information. The case will be forwarded to the DA for review on charges of delaying a peace officer.

7:35 p.m. – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance - Deputy dispatched to report of suspicious person standing in a driveway and yelling. The subject was contacted and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

 

Sunday, Dec. 23

2:49 p.m. – Information Report – 100 block of Redondo Beach Road - Deputy dispatched to report of a vehicle stalled in flood waters, and located a Chevy Tahoe in water approximately four feet deep, with two persons and two dogs inside. The Harbor Master’s Office and State Parks Ranger assisted with a small boat, and rescued the driver, his female passenger, and their two dogs.

11:57 p.m. – DUI – Southbound Highway 1 and San Mateo Road - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and performed traffic stop. The driver appeared to be have been drinking, however was not over the legal limit. The under age driver was cited and released on her promise to appear in court, and was picked up by a sober driver.

 

Monday, Dec. 24

1:59 a.m. – DUI – Avenue Balboa and The Alameda, El Granada - Deputy dispatched to report of solo vehicle accident in which a vehicle collided with a telephone pole. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and CHP arrived on scene to complete the DUI investigation and subsequent arrest.

10:44 p.m. – DUI – Southbound Highway 1 and Grandview Boulevard, Half Moon Bay - Deputy on patrol observed vehicle weaving back and forth in its lane, then cross over double yellow lines and fog line. The Deputy performed traffic stop and found the driver appeared to be intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to SM County Jail.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 25

3:34 a.m. –DUI - 500 block of San Mateo Road, Half Moon Bay - Deputy on patrol performed traffic stop on vehicle for lighting violation and found the driver appeared to be intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to First Chance.

7:46 p.m. – Court Order Violation – 400 block of Casa Del Mar Drive, Half Moon Bay - Deputies dispatched to report of subject causing a disturbance at a residence. The suspect admitted to having been drinking and was determined to be at the residence in violation of a restraining order. He was arrested and transported to First Chance. The case will be forwarded to the DA for review on charges of disobeying a court order.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 26

7:20 a.m. – Coroner’s Case – 2900 block of Pullman Avenue, Half Moon Bay.

9:53 p.m. - Marijuana Possession – 900 block of Moro Avenue, El Granada - Subject cited for an infraction possession of marijuana, and released on her promise to appear in court.

 

Thursday, Dec. 27

10:30 a.m. – Commercial Burglary – 800 block of La Honda Road, La Honda - Deputy took report of burglary to a closed restaurant, when unknown suspect(s) forced open a door and took a 1⁄2 empty bottle of wine. Nothing else in the business appeared to be missing or disturbed.

11:00 p.m. – Petty Theft – 600 block of Purisima Road, Half Moon Bay - Deputy took report of the theft of speakers from an unlocked vehicle. The speakers were valued at $500.

11:40 p.m. – Suspended License – Southbound Highway 1 and Etheldore Street, Moss Beach – Driver cited for driving with a suspended license.
