Suspects Arrested in Half Moon Bay Burglaries

Two juveniles arrested this morning in connection with string of downtown break-in thefts that took place over the last two weeks.

On Friday morning, two 15-year-old residents of Half Moon Bay were arrested as suspects in connection with the string of recent , according to a press release sent out this afternoon by the Sheriff's Office's Coastside Patrol Bureau.

The suspects have been charged with commercial burglary, attempted commercial burglary and conspiracy.  

Following arrest, the juveniles were subsequently released to the custody of their parents, pending arraignment in San Mateo County Juvenile Court, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Because the suspects are juveniles, authorities have declined to release their names.

The first suspect is a white male, while the second suspect is of Hispanic descent, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The suspects are believed to be associated with four break-ins that took place on the evening of Sept. 16-17, three break-ins on the evening of September 9-10, and one break-in that took place on September 7.

All of the break-ins took place in the downtown Half Moon Bay area with access to the businesses taking place through unlocked doors and windows, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The suspects stole hundreds of dollars in cash, along with an iPod from one business. No other merchandise was reported stolen from the businesses.

No further information is available for release at this time.
