Temecula Apple Store Damaged in Apparent Drive-in Burglary

The Apple Store at Temecula Promenade was the target of an apparent drive-in burglary early Thursday.

Yellow crime-scene tape roped off the at Temecula Promenade Thursday morning after an apparent drive-in burglary.

A car was driven through the front door and security gate of the store at 40764 Winchester Road at about 5 a.m., sheriff's Sgt. Dean Spivacke said in a news release.

"Once inside the store, several suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to steal various electronics," Spivacke said. "An inventory is being conducted by employees to determine the extent of the theft."

The car became stuck inside the store because of the security gate, Spivacke said, but by ramming the gate several times the suspect was able to free the car and drive away from the scene.

A bystander who went to the store at about 10 a.m. to see about purchasing a new iPhone said she arrived to see a security screen torn out and shattered glass.

"I was told that a vehicle ran into the store, with intention to rob," Irene Cay told Patch.

Cay said she spoke with an officer who told her no one was injured in the incident, which Spivacke confirmed in the news release.

No employees were in the store when the burglary occurred, he said.

An investigation was continuing, according to Spivacke. Anyone with information was encouraged to call the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3000.

The store was closed today. A call to Apple public relations was not immediately returned, so it was unclear when the store was expected to resume normal business hours.

Brenda, I know this has nothing to do with the article or really what you said. But, I would just like to mention. Do you know the Loma Linda Hospital in Murrieta is HORRIBLE? My brother was bit by my moms bosses dog and had to go there at like 10 at night. There were people just sitting outside in the lobby of the ER trying to get treated. Good thing we had a doctor from church who was able to let us cut. I know that was random but seriously the service is horrible there. Good thing Temecula by my house is getting a hospital.

You realize Temecula is one of the safest cities in America. One crime and your going to move. Doesn't take much to get you out of this city. Only other option is Irvine, safest city in America. Worst crime, is the professor who was going to go shoot all the kids at that school the first day of school. Luckily, the cops caught him before he was able to do that.

This is a different Michael, right? Is someone framing me? Because I don't remember calling anyone an idiot. And I had no reason to call Jim an idiot. Besides, according to these posts, it was wolfcreek who called Jim an idiot. The only time this Michael has ever said anything mean was when I called a bunch of people on Patch stupid because I was defending Brenda when everyone one was hating on her.

Michael, I do not remember back this far, but obviously you are not a mean Michael. I do not see another Michael up there that I was referring to or not. As I said I also dont remember and I could be joking around which I do alot. I do remember a few being mean and you stepping up to the plate and defending me, something I do not ever forget. When I do see a Michael making a comment I hope its you, but never sure here on the Patch. I dont think its meant to you, or about you, and definately nothing to worry about. Glad to see you, and Happy New Year. Hope it stays safe for you, and all goes well with you and the family, friends. :)

Michael, Dont want to burst the Temecula bubble, but in 2010 Temecula was voted one of the top 10 safest cities. The crimes raised 28% in 2011, and increased more then that for 2012, but we wont know the figures for a few months yet. However just by the news any one living here long enough knows it has gotten far worse. The home burlaries alone have been well over 100 that have been caught and in the newspapers. :/
